15 goals conceded in 25 games is why.

 

I've seen this debated to death on FF recently and the arguments for it are very convincing (might go look for a concise appraisal of this tactic as I don't think I could explain it so well myself).

 

The only concern at a corner is to defend the first ball. Doesn't matter how many you've got up waiting for a clearance if they score from the first ball in does it?

I guess, but theres so much benefit from keeping men up. Not sure if Mourinho still does it but he used to keep 3 players up front at Chelsea when defending corners.

 

This meant the opposition had to keep 4 back to defend. Add in the attacker actually taking the corner kick and it leaves the attacking team with only 5 players in the box compared to the defending team's 7. This leaves enough defenders to have one man on each post and 5 man marking.

 

It's what we should be doing imo.

You can of course make arguments for each case, but the stats speak for themselves. It is very rare we concede from a corner.
