Club/RSA Launch 'True Colours' Initiative

Recommended Posts

From the guys at the Assembly

The Rangers Supporters Assembly today launched its ââ?¬Ë?True Coloursââ?¬â?¢ initiative which encourages fans to buy season tickets, in addition to providing free tickets for HM forces personnel to watch Rangers in action at Ibrox during the coming season.

Rangers Assembly President Andy Kerr, who joined Manager Walter Smith and representatives from The Royal Regiment of Scotland, The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards and The Scots Guards at Murray Park today for the launch, commented: ââ?¬Å?There have been many offers of financial help from fans throughout the World and it has been difficult to determine how best to channel that help during the period of uncertainty.

ââ?¬Å?With no transfer of ownership, income from season tickets is even more important this year and so we feel it is appropriate to launch our True Colours initiative now to provide Walter Smith and his team with direct financial support for the new season.

ââ?¬Å?Those who purchase season tickets can then give them to HM forces personnel, thus enabling members of our Armed Forces to watch matches at Ibrox for free. Season holders can also choose to give up their seats for troops on a match by match basis. We encourage anyone that wants to provide financial support for the Club to join in the True Colours campaign and help.ââ?¬Â

A spokesman for the Armed Forces in Scotland said: "This is a wonderful gesture by Rangers Football Club. It will allow servicemen and women the opportunity to watch games when they are home from operations on Leave. Rangers have been particularly supportive to the Armed Forces, and the Army in particular, when they gave over a 1000 free tickets for a European fixture last season. We thank the club and their fans for all that they do."

Fans in the UK and those based abroad may purchase one or more season tickets and assign them for use in this scheme.

Season tickets are priced from just £298 for adults and £96 for kids in the Family Stand, conditions and booking fees apply. Anyone interested in supporting the initiative should purchase a season ticket by visiting rangers.co.uk or telephoning 0871 702 1972 (option 1 then 2)

Alternatively, fans can contact Rangers by emailing truecolours@rangers.co.uk or visiting Rangers Ticket Centre at Ibrox Stadium and advise the Club they wish to donate their season ticket to the Armed Forces for the entire season or on a match by match basis.

Season ticket holders can visit the online ticket sales section on http://www.rangers.co.uk, click on ââ?¬Ë?Secondary Ticketingââ?¬â?¢ and select ââ?¬Ë?Tickets for Troopsââ?¬â?¢ option or call 0871 702 1972 (option 5 then 8) for each game they are unable to attend and free their seat up for the troops.

Not a bad wee scheme this one...

Great gesture - just not sure I have the 400 quid for ST's for me and the wee fella when we wont be attending game at all during the season.

If I had Dave King's money though.....

Great idea, especially the game by game part. If folk cant afford to buy a season book, which will be most of us, everyone can still give up a game or two for the guys who risk their lives in our name.

I love it when the club gets something right and i think this has to go in that bracket
