Rangers Track Bundesliga Sensation Cisse

Just found this on NewsNow - http://www.gersnetonline.co.uk/2010/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=339%3Arangers-track-bundesliga-sensation&catid=1%3Aarticles&Itemid=67

Rangers Track Bundesliga Sensation

Amongst all the excitement (ore more accurately non-plussed cynicism) of the latest takeover story, it appears the transfer rumours are also gaining pace with the window due to open again in six weeks.

As well as the recent links with right-sided Honduran international midfielder Boniek Garcia (which to be fair to 'The Sun') originated in South America and appear accurate, today's Express has Andy McInnes talking about a move for £3m rated Sengalese scoring sensation Demba Cisse.

McInnes writes, "The Freiburg striker who has netted nine times in 12 league games in the Bundesliga so far this season has been watched three times by Ibrox scouts in recent weeks and has become a top target if and when funds become available."

While it may be no coincidence that any new links to players are more to do with padding ownership stories than genuine chances of squad additions, Rangers fans will be eager to see movement in January. Unfortunately with Kenny Miller yet to agree a new contract and Allan McGregor receiving attention from a variety of clubs the movement may not be in the direction we'd prefer.

Indeed, if it wasn't for the alleged personal intervention of Walter Smith in August, Miller may already be plying his trade at West Brom rather than plundering the defences of the SPL. His contribution so far this season has shown he'd be a real loss if the club decide to cash in on him in January so - new owner notwithstanding - we would need to replace him effectively - especially with Jelavic yet to return from ankle surgery.

To conclude, Rangers fans will be more interested in the challenge ahead of them tomorrow at Rugby Park than prospective signings or new owners. We can only hope the players and manager are similarly attuned to Saturday's tough proposition as the more important task of retaining our slender lead in the SPL is more applicable than the latest name to be linked with the club.

Rangers scout £3m rated striker Cisse

It has been reported in today's Express that should their be funds available for Walter Smith to spend in the January transfer window, then the first port of call could be striker Demba Cisse.

Senegalese striker Cisse has been having a fantastic season with Freiburg in Germany and is believed to be available should a fee of around £3million be made. Rangers are aware of the players situation and have sent scouting representation three times to watch the player.

The player has scored nine goals in twelve games this season so far. With Kenny Miller still stalling on signing a new deal and Jelavic out for a considerable period of time, the club may well benefit from refinforcements, should any money be made available.

How positive is this rumour?.

Probably a load of bollox mate, you know what it's like. Although, I do believe the part saying we've been scouting him. The scouts have got to be doing something FFS. Scouting him doesn't mean we'll be buying him though unfortunately. Cracking player as well.

Aye,if he is as good as he looks then we won't be able to afford him as I'm sure the other teams are also scouting him

Exactly and scoring sensations in the Bundesliga don't sell cheaply these days. He'll probably sell for at least double the £3m figure mentioned if he's as good as he looks.
