I think they were made by Sony. Could be wrong, but if it was Sony there's no chance they went bust.

I thought the company that made the Jumbotrons went bust and can't be fixed. I would mind screen but not them just too big.

When they were first installed they were state of the art and were a nice little earner in the summer, Wimbledon, Lords, concerts etc, they made good money because there were so few in the UK at time.

Everything only has a certain lifespan and it's merely a case that they have exceeded theirs, they reached the stage were they were beyond economical repair, there was no guarantee how long they would last if repaired, it would be a case of throwing good money after bad and they would at best still be vastly inferior to the ones now used elsewhere.

The quote Rangers obtained for their removal alone was £16k.

I hope they're replaced as soon as possible since I have a shite view at Ibrox.

I found the screens useful if there was play at the diagonally opposite corner and the light was fading. I couldn't really make out what was happening with the naked eye but the screens were pretty clear due a bigger brighter picture than real life.

Given the costs of replacing the screens with seats is exorbitant then I'd have thought it would more possible to install new ones - perhaps sponsored by a suitable company.

PS With the way technology goes it would probably be better to buy cheaper, new screens than fix the old ones.

I bought a 30" LCD telly seven 7 years ago for £1650 and it only has 1280x768 resolution, a contrast ratio of 500:1 and doesn't even have HDMI in.

Now you can buy a super slim, 42", LED tv with 1960x1080 resolution, 5000:1 contrast ratio, 4 HDMI sockets and built in Freeview for about £450.

Surely it's the same with jumbo screens?
