4th Bid from an all British consortium

Recommended Posts

AN UNEXPECTED but serious bid for Rangers from an all British consortium has been lodged with the Ibrox Administrators.

It comes just 24 hours after Express/Starsport exclusively revealed that an offer from an overseas group was being pursued by Duff and Phelps.

Yesterday's development means it's now a four way fight for control with Administrators David Whitehouse and Paul Clark planning to dissect the individual proposals before deciding on one - or maybe two-- who will be given " preferred bidder status " once the court case involving a £24m deal struck between Craig Whyte and Ticketus is resolved later this week.

Previous offers have come from a consortium called the Blue Knights and headed by former director Paul Murray, the Sale Sharks owner Brian Kennedy and a US-based group.

A fifth bidder believed to be based in the middle east has indicated it will be making a proposal but has yet to follow it through with proof of funding.

Tussle is on for Rangers

The ultimate winner will have to approach creditors and ask for a company voluntary agreement, seeking a pence-in-the-pound deal to repay them in part so that the club can exit administration.

If that can't be secured with holders of 75% of the value of the debt then there remains a possibility that the club could be liquidated.

There was a huge headline there, but no more info on who wants to buy us.

The bulk of that story was just telling us what we all already know.

That's the problem with most of the stuff we get these days. Nigh every article written on a subject relating to us needs to bang in the HMRC bill that looms over our heads and all the rest of the dire stuff, whether it relates to the actual story or not. One does need a cool head to see this through.
