Whyte takeover and Ticketus deal emails

Recommended Posts

BBC Scotland has been given access to emails concerning the takeover by Craig Whyte of Rangers FC.

The messages demonstrate the involvement and prior knowledge and involvement of the club's current administrators, Duff & Phelps, in regards to the deal to sell off three years' worth of season tickets to the finance firm Ticketus, which funded Mr Whyte's takeover of the club.

Email number one is from Mr Whyte's lawyer, Gary Withey, to Mr Whyte's colleague and fellow-Rangers director Phil Betts, and David Grier a senior partner of Duff & Phelps.

Entitled "Ticketus draft", the message is dated 19 April 2011 and mentions the Ticketus deal becoming unconditional when Mr Whyte's company, Wavetower, gained control of Rangers.

Mr Whyte completed the takeover of Rangers on 6 May 2011, 27 days later.

Email number two is from Ross Bryan of Octopus Investments - Ticketus' parent company - to Mr Betts, and Mr Grier.

The message is dated 24 May 2011 and refers to the assignation of the club's season tickets to the finance firm Ticketus.

Email number three is from Mr Betts and Mr Grier of Duff & Phelps with the subject "Ticketus".

The message is dated 24 June and discusses the raising of an invoice to be backdated to 9 May, which would have been three days after Mr Whyte's takeover of Rangers.

Mr Grier initially told the BBC he did not find out about the Ticketus deal until August 2011.

Yes, these blurry emails were one thing. But the whole thing was about dual payments and they showed zero evidence. The above is nothing new.

It certainly gives reason as to why Duff & Phelps are so determined that RFC plc should be liquidated.

So, you believe this? The same documentary that had Prince Albert investing in Rangers, David Murray trying to shag Joanna Lumley and a porn star devising EBTs - you think this is above board evidence?

I believe Duff & Phelps are "at it" and always have believed that to be the case.

If you had that opinion beforehand, fine. But don't use the shite tonight to back up your case.

What do you mean "if"? my stance has been well documented on here.

If you look at the bottom email it's clear that Betts is telling Grier that Grier will be dealing with Ticketus.

Keep shooting the messenger though!

Never watched the programme but since about April I personally thought D&P were at, however this could cost them big.

Hopefully it will put them under scrutiny from their peers and regulators, which could be good for us.

Can't help but look at the 'evidence' against them though and think that the worst outcome for D&P is Grier being made scapegoat as he was the only one implicated. An internal investigation will result in him resigning. The End.

...At least that is unless they still plan on forging ahead with the CB lawsuit.
