Recommended Posts

now that the hmrc have reached a decision it looks like the ones that will suffer the most will be the fans who have done nothing wrong .

lets hope the hmrc investigate every one connected to murray since the day he came to ibrox and if need be put the blighters in jail if found guilty of wrong doing .

a simmilar investigation for whyte and his cronies as well .

this is a sad day for all the great fans of our great club .

Alas a flick through any issue of Private Eye is enough to temper any hope.

Just out of interest and to be clear about it ... the newco would stride on from e.g. Friday with no debts to anyone whatsoever and "only" the SPL/SFA to deal with with a) where we will be playing and b) what sort of punishment the SFA will hand out?

c) do we keep our history or do they (SFA) register us as a totally new company?

That is actually out of the equation. Before the oldco is liquidated, the assets (including history et al) are being transferred to the newco. This is just a business matter, not a club matter.

This is what HMRC says to the matter:

"A liquidation provides the best opportunity to protect taxpayers, by allowing the potential investigation and pursuit of possible claims against those responsible for the company’s financial affairs in recent years. A CVA would restrict the scope of such action. Moreover the liquidation route does not prejudice the proposed sale of the club. This sale can take place either through a CVA or a liquidation.

So the sale is not being undermined, it simply takes a different route. Liquidation will enable a sale of the football assets to be made to a new company, thereby ensuring that football will continue at Ibrox. It also means that the new company will be free from claims or litigation in a way which would not be achievable with a CVA. Rangers can make a fresh start."

We'll be awaiting the SFA punishment that was referred back to their Kangaroo court, sorry, appellate tribunal as well as any punishments/sanctions handed out by the SPL if they vote for us to stay in the SPL.

This is what HMRC says to the matter:

The SFA are not obliged to transfer the membership from the oldco to the newco, so yes, it is a club matter.

They register clubs, not companies, do they not? The club does not cease to exist?

Edit: It looks like we have to apply for membershiip, but in any case, it does not touch the club as such, or its history.
