Seems the Rangers story is spreading across the globe

Recommended Posts

This post by Marcelo in our forum, The Bears' Den, has been incredibly well received by all of our users on RangersMedia and many are clubbing together to send Marcelo a Rangers shirt, as well as a few other items to help him learn more about our beloved Rangers.

Even Rangers hero Lee McCulloch has offered to send Marcelo a signed shirt - an incredible gesture from big Jig!

Rangers supporters have been through an incredibly torrid and testing time in the past six months, but the way we have reacted to the demotion to SFL Division 3, really is incredile and inspiring in itself - as Marcelo has testified above!

The post really is an inspiration in itself and really demonstrates the impact the Rangers story has had on the world.

It doesn't matter whether you live in Glasgow, Belfast, Toronto or Brazil - juntos, somos Rangers

«We Are The People"
By Natischer on Wednesday, 22 August 2012, at 06:06 clock

Our loyal reader Mr. Max Power recently attended 4th-tier Scottish league football.

Arrival
Direct flights from Switzerland to Glasgow do not exist. Either you go via London or book a direct flight to Edinburgh. The journey to Glasgow can then be made by train. I recommend travelling via Edinburgh. Glasgow is a one-hour train ride from Edinburgh. The famous Ibrox Stadium is easily accessible from Glasgow Central Station by subway. Please make sure to arrive early enough, since many supporters use the subway and the atmosphere only hours before the match is unique.

City
Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland. It has quite a bit to offer. Two of the most famous football clubs in the world play their home games there, plus the Scottish national stadium, Hampden Park, is in Glasgow as well. Apart from going to these grounds you can also shop in the city or get drunk in one of the many public houses. On weekends the center is very busy.

Club
I probably do not need to specially introduce Rangers at this point. Due to current events, it has to be mentioned that Rangers currently no longer play in the Scottish Premier League but in the Third Division. The Third Division is the fourth highest division in Scotland and is the lowest professionally-run division. Due to financial problems Rangers now enrich this division. ... With 54 championships Rangers are the Scottish giants. For further and more detailed information on Rangers, I recommend the website of Rangers or Wikipedia.

Stadium
Ibrox Park is located on the south side of the River Clyde in the Ibrox district of Glasgow. The underground of Glasgow is relatively simple: It has an inner and an outer circle. ... The stadium has a capacity of 51'082 spectators which offers the spectators the opportunity to attend fine sports. The stadium is one of the nicest in Europe and is built in the classic British style. The pitch is surrounded by a main stand and three more grandstands. No smoking in the stadium. It is worth mentioning, since all stick to it until they go to the bathroom. In the toilets it then smells like in the pubs in past days. The smoke offers a nice change to urine scent.

Tickets
Tickets can be ordered on the internet, be purchased during the week in the UK or on game day. On match days, it is best to go to the stadium early. If no ticket has been purchased, this should be done first, because even if Rangers only play in the 3rd Division, the stadium was still full. The prices vary between 16 and 35 pounds.

Catering in the stadium
The food at the stadium offers nothing special and there is, as in most British stadiums, from burgers, pies, to hot dogs and Sausage Rolls. In Scottish stadiums no alcohol must be sold and consumed, there is a range of soft drinks only. Non-alcoholic beer is for good and understandable reasons not offered at all.

Before the game
When the game starts at 3, it is recommended to be on site at least at twelve o’clock. Directly across from the exit of the subway is the Rangers Pub 'We Are The People ". At 1pm it is jam-packed, and in front of the house is a queue of people. Liquid stuff can be consumed inside, and free ham sandwiches are handed out. In order not to starve completely before entering the pubs, the local fish n 'chips shops have to be visited. There are chips with curry or chips with cheddar cheese or just fish n 'chips. The selection is very limited, and it all looks about the same. It's still delicious. From two hours before the game, the songs that are played in the pub are sung along loudly. The atmosphere at this time is just fantastic and deserves great praise. Hats off! After several speeches by the pub owner then even some anti-Celtic-verses are chanted. The name of "We Are The People" is fully taken into account. The fans are very friendly and good-humored. At this point I would like to mention that two Rangers supporter whom I met, mentioned the famous Young Boys Berne first thing when I mentioned my nationality. One thing must be added: Although it is possible to consume Guinness, nobody does this because it is the drink of the archenemy. A pint costs three pounds and is cheap compared to pubs in the city centre. This pub is really a must-have-drunk-there!

The game
Rangers played the first home game of the season against East Stirlingshire. 49,000 spectators (not all season ticket holders were present) were a wonderful backdrop. In the 2nd minute the crass outsider goes ahead by penalty with their first and last chance of the match. The fantastic atmosphere, however, does not change, because the score up to the break is 2-1. At the end Rangers win 5-1. The final score could also have been 7 or 8 to one. The game was marked by a few rude fouls by the away side and by many beautiful long through balls on the sides or through the center by the home team. The support was awesome throughout the game and the win was hugely and widely celebrated at the end by intoning of "God Save the Queen".

We owe this stupendous report to our AAA reader Mr Power. OleOle, Mr Power!
