Templeton having medical according to poster on RM

I have already said this but will do so again... Templeton would be a great signing for us IMO.

He would be a real good fit in that 4-2-3-1 formation playing as the left side of the 3, McKay through the middle and Little on the right with Jig up top.

Any flair is a good thing. Forces some sort of football to be played.

David Templeton: I grew up a Celtic fan but Gers-daft dad named me after Davie Cooper

HEARTS ace David Templeton grew up as a Celtic fan and spent years cursing his dad for naming him after Davie Cooper.

But now the winger would love nothing more than to emulate Rangers legend Coop by becoming a star on the wing for Scotland.

The 21-year-old might be a long way off Cooper's iconic status but his career has taken a giant leap forward this season.

A goal in the Edinburgh derby secured hero status with the Tynecastle support and kicked off a dream spell that saw him named the Clydesdale Bank Young Player of the Month for November.

And as he picked up his award last week, Templeton laughed about the stick he used to cop from Celtic-supporting mates over his middle name.

He said: "It's weird when I look in the Hearts programme and see my name as David Cooper Templeton. My dad grew up a diehard Rangers fan and Davie was his hero.

"I don't know why he decided to name me after him because I have an older brother!

"Cooper was an unbelievable player and if I could become half as good as he was then it would be amazing.

"But I didn't really like it growing up. My dad left and I went to my mum's side of the family. They were all Celtic fans so I ended up following them. It was odd being a Celtic fan named after Davie Cooper.

"I got a bit of stick when I was younger but I don't really bother about the Old Firm now I'm at Hearts.

"When I was younger my dad always told me about Davie and I saw a few videos of him.

"The way he went past people made it look so easy - that's what I liked about him.

"It was good watching players like that. Although I was a Celtic fan I loved watching Brian Laudrup too because of the way he played."

With the influence of Cooper present from such an early age it was little surprise the young Templeton would find himself drifting to the wings, even if he did start out as a striker.

He added: "I liked playing up front as a kid. I wanted to go past everyone and score goals.

"I wanted all the glory that comes from scoring. But managers started playing me out wide because I liked going past people.

"It was for the best. If I was playing striker now I wouldn't be doing so well."

His dad, Henry Templeton, is responsible for a lot more than David's middle name.

A former pro himself with Ayr United, he has clearly passed on his skills to his boy.

But Templeton junior insists that doesn't add extra pressure to follow in his footsteps.

He added: "I only saw a couple of my dad's games.

"One was against Celtic and he broke his leg.

"I heard he was a good player but I want to do everything myself and not be known as Henry Templeton's son.

"I'm pleased with the way things are going. Now that I've had a run in the team I've shown what I can do. Hopefully I've convinced the gaffer I should be playing every week.

"My goal against Hibs was a big moment. It was brilliant to turn round and see the fans.

"That was easily the best feeling I've had in my career.

"I took confidence into the next game against Celtic and scored in that win too.

"When Jim Jefferies took over at Hearts I knew he had a record for bringing along great young players. So I was happy with the appointment.

"He brought through Alan Johnston and Neil McCann, who were wingers, and that helped me believe I would get my chance as well. He has been very good with me."
