Division 3 is like war

FRAN SANDAZA claims the Third Division isnâ??t football â?? itâ??s WAR!

The Rangers striker got his longest run this season in Saturdayâ??s goalless draw at Annan and was left stunned at the minnowsâ?? fighting spirit.

Sandaza said: â??The Third Division is not football â?? at least not away from home. Away games are war.

â??Itâ??s much more physical, more hard tackles. I was on the pitch on Saturday thinking, â??f****** hell!â??.â?

The Spaniard played for 81 minutes at Galabank on Saturday after the early injury to new boy David Templeton.

And the former St Johnstone and Dundee United forward has warned his Ibrox buddies that they will have to start showing the same fight as their Third Division rivals.

Sandaza â?? set to start against Queen of the South in the Ramsdens Cup quarter-final at Ibrox tonight â?? said: â??In away games it isnâ??t football the way it is at Ibrox or in SPL games.

â??But we have to realise this is where we are right now, these are our present circumstances.

â??Thinking about the future or the past is silly â?? we have to concentrate on where we are today and rise to that.

â??Everybody is expecting us to win 4-0 and 5-0 but the teams we meet are playing the game of their lives.

â??Theyâ??re very sharp, very aggressive and thereâ??s no space.

â??But we will come good in the division, I have no doubts about that.

â??Itâ??s September and we are still unbeaten.

â??Away from home, we have to change our minds and become more like the teams we are playing against.

â??Away from Ibrox, much more of the play is about balls over the top.

â??It is more like a war â?? at least it was on Saturday. We have to win these wars and we must do that.

â??We are Rangers and we must win every game.â?

Meanwhile, reserve keeper Scott Gallacher is in line to be handed his Rangers debut against the Second Division leaders tonight.

First-choice keeper Neil Alexander is struggling with a shoulder injury he suffered at Annan and 23-year-old Gallacher is on stand-by to face Queens.

Man up Fran and stop crying like a big wean.

As far as I read it, he just tells it like it is. Hence, as I just wrote in another thread, it will be the case that free-flowing entertainment football in away games will be hard to come by this season. Thus, technically gifted folk like Sandaza and McKay, Shiels and Templeton will become prime targets for said hammer-throwers and hacks. These are the games for the Blacks, McCullochs, and Kyles in our team, protection and leading the way.

We all knew this before the season started so to come on and start telling us it's a war is wasting his and my time. Get the sleeves rolled up and give as good as you get that's the way to stop the hammer throwers.

The home team in the away games seem to be able to pass the ball about while kicking lumps out of our players so why can't we?
