Interview with Ally from STV

His comments are naive, he should know better. Part of the problem with him seems to be that from a layman's point of view, it's easy to see that he studied under Smith. So many of the criticisms that he is getting about having favoured players; playing guys out of position; tactical ineptness; negative tactics are all accusations that have been levelled at Walter during his time here.

As a result, it makes me wonder if he's suffering by having not managed at any other club or worked with others than Walter. So he's naturally trying to do what Walter did but he's simply not Walter - is that the difference? That Smith's experience or rapport with the players or special something meant that his style of management produced results but someone trying to ape him is going to fail?

the fact people want to talk about pitch sizes as an excuse shows how desperate they are to hang onto a failing manager.

I've never been a big fan of your calls to sack Ally to be honest, but blaming the size of a pitch for a game like this is ridiculous. Right up there with the floodlight was too blinding or the grass wasn't short enough. Ally is starting to take down his legend status he earned as a player by showing the display of a manager that he does, that is a shame but it's also a fact. The question is if a new manager would be able to correct the wrongs.
