70% of our first team come from academy...

Some sarcastic remark on this (while turning the argument on its head) would be: money can't not always buy you success. Nor do grand players and grand managers guarantee you that. Would like to hear the arguments thrown about on the Man City boards this evening, probably not all too dissimilar to what is written here on occasion.

you are probably right berliner. i feared the worst for them when i saw barry, milner and lescott all in the same team.

Our whole youth set-up needs to be changed. I hate to say it but Celtic are well ahead of us in terms of that. They have adopted the model most other European teams use by getting the kids in before and after school to maximise their hours of playing the game and they are already seeing the results. They have got something like 10 players in the Scotland under-16 squad to our 1 or 2.

Granted that doesn't mean they will go onto to be better players because of a number of factors but it certainly gives you an indicator of where we are. IMO our youth system has went back considerably since Sinclair took charge of it.
