Seven people have been arrested following the match between Heart of Midlothian and Celtic.

The fixture, which took place at Tynecastle on Wednesday, saw police detain seven men in connection with alleged "disruptive" behaviour.

The ages of the men range from 20 to 44 and a number of them are due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday.

Lothian and Borders Police suggested there could be further arrests as officers scan CCTV footage of the fixture which Celtic won 4-0.

Match Commander Superintendant David Carradice said: "Our priority is everybody's safety and we will take action against the small number whose disruptive behaviour spoils the match for the decent fans.

“It is important to remember there was CCTV and video recording equipment within the ground. Working with our colleagues in the FOCUS unit, this will enable police to take action in the coming days to trace those responsible for unacceptable behaviour. "

Lifted from a Hearts site...

Irritates me when Lothian & Borders Police stand back and let Celtic fans do what they want at Tynecastle. The stewards tried to take someone out after one of the flares was set off but several Celtic fans attempted to stop them and ended up fighting with the police. It seemed to work as I didn't see anyone lifted.
