Carlos Bocanegra injured in Racing Santander's season finale

AMSTERDAM â?? Carlos Bocanegra was removed at the break with an undetermined knock as Racing Santander closed the Spanish Adelantedivision season with a 3-0 home victory over Hércules.

On loan from Scottish club Rangers, Boca nearly scored in the 11th minute, but his attempt cleared off the line.

Racing finished the season with three wins and four clean sheets from a five-game unbeaten run, but it was too little and too late to save their Segunda División status. The club has already been relegated and will play in Segunda División B next year.

No word yet on Bocanegra's future plans.

And to think that he chose a Segunda Division strugglers in an attempt to retain his USA-international status ... in vein. You'd hope that Boca sees reason, accept that Klinsmann has moved on and joins up for our revival and hopefully some more silverware next season.

If Klinsmann is still giving him hope what's he to do?

You would have someone in our squad on between £15k and £20k a week?

The USA centre halves that played against Jamaica on Friday night are being praised extensively over here. So it would seem that Boca will very much have his work cut out to make the squad.

Klinsmann is just being respectful to an outstanding professional. It would be daft to close the door on anyone in case of emergencies but i think Boca honestly knew his days were numbered some time ago.

I actually can't see that these Spanish second division strugglers pay him that much. Then again, maybe they belong to that bunch who don't pay tax and insurance either ...

Or..... We might be contributing to his salary whilst he is over there......
