Zappa 0
Wednesday, 19 February 2014 16:45 Rovers Cup Date Confirmed Written by Andrew Dickson RANGERS will host Albion Rovers in the last eight of the Scottish Cup on Sunday, March 9, with kick-off at 3.30pm. The Light Blues were paired with the Coatbridge side in the quarter-finals of the competition when the draw took place earlier this month. It was anticipated the game might be moved from its original date on the Saturday for live television coverage and that is the case, with Sky Sports choosing to screen the fixture. Gers will be bidding to progress to the last four for the first time since 2009, when they last won the event as they beat Falkirk 1-0 in the final at Hampden. On that occasion Nacho Novo’s goal less than 30 seconds after the restart was enough to separate the sides. Ally McCoist’s men have an added incentive to advance to the semi-finals of this year’s event, with both of those matches taking place at Ibrox. The manager has insisted his men aren’t favourites to claim the trophy, with Aberdeen and Dundee United both sides he thinks have a better chance. But he knows that with holders Celtic out, there is an enhanced opportunity for his side to add another major honour to the 115 the club has already claimed. The clash with Rovers will be the second of the season following a 4-0 win over James Ward’s team in the opening round of the Ramsdens Cup last July. Nicky Law’s double and further strikes from Ian Black and David Templeton ensured a comfortable success at Livingston’s Energy Assets Arena. The Cliftonhill outfit are in the Scottish Cup quarters for the first time in 80 years having beaten Spartans, Deveronvale, Motherwell and Stenhousemuir on the way. But Rovers have never won in Govan before and having lost their last 13 games with Gers, McCoist will be hoping to extend that run further two weeks on Sunday. http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/item/6349-rovers-cup-date-confirmed

RyanGers193 0
Was hoping for a Friday night but oh well. We haven't been to the semis since 2009? That is disgraceful.
Zappa 0
At least it's not on the beeb as that would have seriously affected the attendance again.
