Mark Warburton: From trader to manager (All chapters now online)

Recommended Posts

We've got a real treat on the main site this week as John DC Gow explores the career of Mark Warburton. I've read the full piece and it really is the perfect background to help explain what drives the man and how his ideals will affect Rangers.

Some of the chapters are quite lengthy so I'll just link directly to them for your perusal. We'll also release one per day...

Hotly anticipated!

"[it] was an under-19 tournament which featured some of Europe’s best clubs - and Celtic." Magic. It's the little things.

Good read. Not enough!

I'd like to know more about Davie Weir's role. How did he get in tow with MW ?

Yeah, we've been discussing that on Twitter.

Nothing certain (or in print) but it seems to me the McParland connection is the likely source. He worked with MW at Watford before moving to Liverpool and being partially responsible for signing Danny Wilson who had such a successful partnership with Weir at Rangers. As academy director, he would then have worked again with Warburton during the Next Gen series so it may have been around then MW developed a relationship with Weir - especially as in 2012, Weir was involved at Everton at youth level too.
