Closing Down a Game to Win

Recommended Posts

I watched the last fifteen minutes of Arsenal v Manchester City yoofs, City 4 - 3 up on aggregate and Gunners with a yoof sent off. Apart from two dribbling aberrations by their 'keeper City gave a master class on how to see the game out safely. Perhaps SD of W should get the video and swot our team up on it.

Leicester City have adopted a style of closing the game down, a young sub guy came on late in the game and held the ball up cutely at a corner of the park getting throw-ins wasting about 5 minutes. They've had five 1-0 wins in their last six games now using that idea, dangerous of course but successful so far.

Sider: Exactly one year ago - Leicester were 7 points from safety, today, now 7 points ahead at the top.

Perhaps the City first team ought to watch that video as well because the defence has been paper thin any time that Kompany has been out injured. Hopefully one or two of these younger lads will get a look in under Guadiola because they can't be much worse than De Michaelis and Mangala have been this season.

The yoof coach obviously knows his defensive trade.

Pellegrini doesn't seem to know what a defender should look like. Who on earth signs their fullbacks from the Arsenal?
