Appeal after Rangers fan knocked out at Haymarket Station

British Transport Police have appealed for information after a Rangers fan was knocked unconscious in an incident at Haymarket Station in Edinburgh.

It happened at about 21:45 on Saturday.

Police said the 37-year-old was approached by two men on platform three and assaulted. One of the men officers are keen to trace was wearing a Hibernian scarf.

The victim was taken hospital where he was treated for head injuries. He was said to be in a stable condition.

Police said one of the men punched the victim in the face. He was described as being about 6ft tall, of medium build with light ginger hair wearing grey jeans and a black polo neck jumper.

The second man was wearing a black tartan shirt and a Hibs scarf and had facial hair.

Det Con Lorna White said: "We would like to appeal for anyone who was at the station and who witnessed the assault to come forward and contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or by texting 61016.

"Information can also be given to the independent charity Crimestoppers."

Haven't really seen this highlighted anywhere today? Again I have to think if it had been a Hibs fan knocked unconscious at Glasgow Central this would have been all over the main Scottish news etc
