Stanley tell Rangers: ‘Duo can’t train until compensation agreed’

Recommended Posts

Agreement hasn't been reached over Windass and Crooks but Rangers say Stanley are at fault.

Accrington Stanley have refused permission for new Rangers signings Matt Crooks and Josh Windass to train until the Ibrox club agrees compensation for the pair.

Rangers signed pre-contract agreements with Windass and Crooks in January with both players committing to move to Ibrox in the summer.

Accrington's owner has told STV: "Until the compensation package has been agreed they are our players" but Rangers say the English club has "failed to provide" necessary detail to allow agreement to be reached.

Clubs must pay training compensation for players under the age 23 who move cross-border, providing the players have been offered new deals on the same or better terms than their current contracts.

Stanley are unhappy that no compensation has been agreed six months after the players announced their intent and have now taken action.

"We've written to Rangers informing them of our position and have copied in the FA and the Scottish FA," Holt told STV.

"Until the compensation package has been agreed they are our players, so they shouldn't be allowed to train with Rangers.

"We have them contracted until June 30."

A Rangers spokesperson told STV: "Rangers has always been willing to pay a compensation fee as determined by FIFA regulations.

"However, in order to confirm a figure Rangers needs Accrington Stanley to co-operate fully by providing some necessary detail.

"So far they have failed to provide this."

Holt added that there had been contact from Rangers but that he remained unimpressed.

"They've got two great players for nothing so the least they can do is pay up properly and stop playing games," Holt said.

"I believe they are up there in Glasgow. I have an email from Rangers requesting they train but I'm refusing permission until compensation is agreed."

In January, Holt was vocal in his displeasure over losing two key players for only a small compensation figure, while manager John Coleman criticised the players' moves, saying that they had "disrespected" fans when tweeting about their Rangers agreements.

'Shouldn't be allow'

means crooks and windass would miss the trip to America. Only the players will be seriously affected by that. Poor from AS.

I actually tweeted Andy Holt and told him exactly this. The players who have served him well are the ones suffering. Terrible attitude from him.

Funnily enough this was my other tweet to him too - He simply can't see the long game in that players will think twice about signing for them whilst he is there and happily playing with players futures. Its a poor show.

This stinks!,is it not the case that a tribunial sets the compensation package?,not Rangers or Stanley?

Compare and contrast to Ings transfer where compensation still not agreed but Burnley still let him play for Pool.

Compare and contrast to Ings transfer where compensation still not agreed but Burnley still let him play for Pool.

TM lists the transfer fee as 6.25m or the like, and while I know how much you like TM, it was also said somewhere else that all's done and dusted. In this case, we are obviously lacking information, but right now I see no reason to put any blame on our doorstep.

EDIT: Danny Ings stuff -> https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/apr/28/liverpool-burnley-danny-ings-tribunal-record ... and I would assume that since his contract was up with Burnley, they had no legal right to stop him from anything. Same with AS, after June 30th.

Windass brands Accrington 'petty' over training ban

RANGERS new boy Josh Windass last night branded Accrington Stanley PETTY for refusing him permission to train at Murray Park.

The Ibrox attacker is in Glasgow after agreeing a pre-contract agreement with the club in January along with ex-Stanley midfielder Matt Crooks.

But Accrington owner Andy Holt has blocked the pair of them from training with Mark Warburton’s side before June 30 - until a compensation fee has been agreed.

Rangers are due to pay the English League Two club under FIFA regulations because the players are under 23 and have made a cross-border switch.

The Ibrox club claim they’re waiting for paperwork for Accrington to complete the deal but Holt says Rangers are at fault.

It has left Windass and Crooks – who is currently injured – in limbo and the front-man has urged Holt to let them move on.

Windass told Mailsport: “I just think it’s a bit petty. It’s frustrating for me because it’s not like Accrington won’t get paid – they’ll get their money.

“It’s not harming Rangers or Accrington Stanley, it’s only harming myself and Crooksy.

“We helped get Accrington get to where they got to in the league last season. Everything we’ve ever done has been for the good of that club.

“So it’s just a bit petty from them.

“Crooksy is injured so he’s not doing anything anyway.

“But we went into Murray Park on Saturday morning, all the lads were training but obviously we weren’t.

“There’s not a lot we can do about it.”

Rangers are adamant they have done nothing wrong and are waiting on documents from Accrington which will conclude the transfer.

A club spokesperson said: “Rangers have always been willing to pay a compensation fee as determined by FIFA regulations.

“However, in order to confirm a figure Rangers needs Accrington Stanley to co-operate fully by providing some necessary detail.

“So far they have failed to provide this.”

But bitter Accrington chief Holt insists six months after Windass and Crooks signed the Bosman deals – they’re still waiting on Gers coughing up.

He said: “Until the compensation package is agreed they are our players so they shouldn’t be allowed to train with Rangers. We have them contracted until June 30.

“We’ve written to Rangers informing them of our position and have copied in the FA and SFA.

“They’ve got two great players for nothing so the least they can do is pay up properly and stop playing games.

“I believe they’re up in Glasgow. I have an email from Rangers requesting they train but I’m refusing permission until compensation is agreed.”

In January when the players agreed on the move to Ibrox, Holt was raging because they’d lost two prized assets to a Scottish club for a minimal fee.

The way I see it if it's true that this is being held up and they are being denied the right to train due to Accrinton failing to provide required details it goes beyond petty and into vindictive. They're not painting a very pretty picture of themselves for future young recruits and as for “They’ve got two great players for nothing" well that's the breaks when you operate on a system of one year contracts.

A post lifted from FF:

We signed them on a pre-contract in January.

Holt is unhappy because they will receive very little in compensation.

Compensation cannot be set until they are registered.

They cannot be registered until after June 30th.

They may or may not have arrived in Glasgow 2 weeks ago.

AS have failed to provide Rangers with the required details to finalise the deal.

AS have refused to allow them to train because they're still in the huff.

They are free to train after June 30th.

It's all Rangers fault
