That's the thing about abuse. It's not nice. It's not intended to be and those who abuse others are to be condemned for it. That said, from the perspective of the abused, it's really not necessary to descend into hysteria. What happened to resilience in the face of adversity and "water off a duck's back"? I'm not entirely sure oversensitivity is any better than insensitivity. As an adult, you shouldn't abuse other people and neither should you be so precious that you can't ignore it and walk away.
