Clearly, we do not want to get ahead of ourselves. 

Celebrating now would be a wee bit previous, as they say in the Garngad......

 

 

However, personally, I want this League done and dusted at the earliest opportunity.

 

-the earlier, the bigger the girfuy to FC Dynamo Dubai

-the earlier, the more we can relax and enjoy a beer while watching games

-who knows if/when the Coronavirus will strike, where, how virulently, and what its impact will be? So the sooner the title comes home the better

-if we are involved at the business end of the Europa Vase, then players and staff will be able to focus with, ahem, laser like intensity on that tournament

-notwithstanding that, it will be interesting to see the team perform in the League without any pressure or tension whatsoever

-notwithstanding that, it will be interesting to see younger fringe players maybe get some significant time on the pitch

A lot is going wrong for Celtic this season on and off the pitch

And Celtic have hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons due to matters off the pitch lately.

They’ve been embroiled in a war of words with the Scottish Government after it was decided the players and coaching staff would go on a warm weather training trip to Dubai as the UK entered its latest coronavirus lockdown.

They were without a number of first-team players – as well as manager Neil Lennon – for their first match back in Scotland due to one positive COVID test in the squad, and they subsequently drew the game with Hibs earlier this week.

And there’s been more bad press for the Scottish champions as it emerged the club’s Under-18 side have now been furloughed.

Celtic’s chief executive Peter Lawwell has since admitted that the controversial trip to Dubai was a ‘mistake’ but Durham thinks the club hasn’t been taught an appropriate lesson.

The talkSPORT host believes Celtic should be DEMOTED to Scottish League Two, something their Glasgow rivals Rangers had to do in 2012 after experiencing crippling financial problems.

Responding to former Hoops striker Andy Walker’s suggestion Celtic are ‘out of touch’, a furious Durham said: “So out of touch.

“And if you don’t think you’re not hearing correctly, it is correct. After a 200 grand trip to Dubai, for a bunch of losers to laugh in the face of a Scotland that has been decimated by COVID, Celtic are now getting the taxpayer to pay for their youth squad.

“In the meantime, Rangers have opened up Ibrox as a vaccination centre!

“Am I right in thinking Scotland has had enough of Celtic Football Club? In the whole scheme of things, what Celtic are doing now is far, far worse, far more insulting to the fans and to football and to the whole nation than anything Rangers did nine years ago.

“So wouldn’t it be just fitting, wouldn’t it be right, to demote Celtic to Scottish League Two after all this nonsense?

“Punish them for bringing the game into disrepute, showing contempt for the very people whose money keeps the club going in normal times.

“Who’s with me? Demote Celtic to Scottish League Two, are you with me, Darren [Gough, Durham’s co-host]? It’s disgraceful behaviour from what’s meant to be a big football club.”

Goughie agreed with Durham that it was ‘disgraceful’ from Celtic, but doesn’t believe they should go all the way down.

Rangers fans may take less persuading, however…
