Geordie Young had retired, his replacement from Buckie Thistle via Queens Park, John Valentine wasn’t up to the task, Rangers suffered a heavy cup defeat and Willie Moles hadn’t the experience to plug the gap so off to Love Street for this man. He sorted things out. Willie Telfer.


Edit: Just noticed something wrong with the socks.

No fullback was better than Eric Caldow. Davie Provan filled the breach after Caldow’s dreadful injury. DP would never have claimed to be the footballer Caldow was but like Willie Rae and John Little before him never shirked, never gave up, aye ready.

We will never know how great he would have been but Bobby Charlton said he was the best he’d ever played with or seen Duncan Edwards
