Ferguson is picking the team based on what's best for Ferguson and not what's best for the club in the medium term.

 

It shouldn't matter if Lawrence is doing better in training. He's gone soon and not part of next season. Cortes will still be our player and desperately needs game time.

 

Ferguson wants the win so it looks good on his CV/record, rather than thinking about the club for next season.

There was always going to be a little bit of a conflict with Barry getting that gig, even for a few months.  The fact that he been making noises about actually wanting the job means he was never told it could not be his.  With that, he was never going to risk picking anything other than the team he hoped could win.  This period should have been about getting a sense of who had the minerals to be kept, both youth and squad.  That is not what we got.
