compo 8,100 Posted Tuesday at 13:53 Share Posted Tuesday at 13:53 It was a long difficult season in many ways the only respite from the dross of the domestic setup was another decent display in the Thursday night cup so we’re did we go wrong what should we have changed who did the managers stick to long with did anyone give you hope for a brighter future.
Scott7 6,881 Posted Tuesday at 14:53 Share Posted Tuesday at 14:53 Clement should have been given the full season. No point in replacing hm until the next permanent was fixed up. Butland wasn’t all bad and Kelly was adequate. Souttar did reasonably well. Fine with a younger, fitter Balogun beside him. I liked Cerny but don’t expect him back. I preferred to see Hagi than not. Dessers gets the “Ha ha ha, who’s laughing now?” prize but strangely I wouldn’t be sad to see him replaced. For the future, Barron and Igamane and I’m glad Cameron has been signed. Jefte can play a bit but not as a defender. Draw a veil over tye rest of it.
CammyF 9,497 Posted Tuesday at 17:53 Share Posted Tuesday at 17:53 Very few positives player wise - Igamane showed little glimpses of potential, Cerny would be my POTY just ahead of Dessers who once again ended up with 20+ goals. Clement should have been fired months before he was, the red flags were there in pre-season. Our fitness was shocking. Our board are not fit for purpose. Work on Copland is still ongoing, 1 year after it started. EL gave us some hope, but fizzled out in the later stages. At least we'll kick off next season at Ibrox and, all going well, new board, new manager and some new players. All aboard.......

Fa1833 472 Posted Tuesday at 21:46 Share Posted Tuesday at 21:46 Let’s hope the 51’ers start with the right plan in place from the beginning , we need to keep Raskin and Barron at all costs and others are negotiable if the right price comes in. Dessers deserves another season at least providing we can get someone to work alongside him. I’m sure if that is the case he will become a better Striker 🤞
Tannochsidebear 2,518
Kicking off the season at Hampden set us back right away and in truth we never really got going after that. The CL defeat with some corrupt refereeing really hurt us too. But our early season away form killed any title chance. If I recall we had one win from first 6 away games and had a negative GD at that point which is about a third of the way through. Never winning a title with that form. It was our inability to take the many good chances we created that cost us and even though Dessers ended up with a decent tally, his glaring misses cost us points time and time again. Our midfield took a while to gel and didnt chip in with enough goals to see us over the line in the games when the forwards were missing. Getting robbed in the LCF in December was a missed opportunity to get sacked the cheating scumbag Connor, and we had ample opportunities to get Walsh sacked/demoted too but our bottle merchant board do not fight our corner in these issues and we have no friends in the media willing to do the job alone. The SC defeat to Queens was a loss too far for Clement and he had to go but then bringing in BF was a total disaster IMO and we should have had a better plan ready to go as Clement was on a shoogly peg for ages so it wasnt as if it came from nowhere. Again the board to blame. The last 2 months of the season was pure torture, a dead rubber win at the piggery notwithstanding, and it was only the increasing talk of a takeover that prevented full scale revolt from the fans, who voted with their feet and numbers fell away massively in the last few games. A couple of decent performances and results in Europe, making the top 8 was a great achievement, especially so when 4 of our 8 opponents finished above us so we played the best on offer and came through admirably. Report card - team 5/10, board 0/10. Same old failings, same marks, must do better.
