Should Rangers/Naismith look to compensation

After the "stamp" by Hardie of St Johnstone - and it is hard to say he did not intentionally land on Naisy, should we look for compensation, or should Naismith sue for damages due to injury?

A few players have been taken to court here in Holland recently for tackles that verge on assault. For one player it was a career finishing tackle and he did get compensation and the guilty party getting a work sentence.
