Stevie Frail has officially left Hearts

HEARTS caretaker boss Stevie Frail has officially left the club 'by mutual consent' today, a fortnight after being sent on gardening leave.

The former Hearts defender had been told to stay away from the club as the players returned back for pre-season training, after taking charge as stand-in boss in January.

In a statement on Hearts' website, the club said: 'Stephen will always be welcome at Tynecastle, and leaves Hearts with everyone's best wishes for the future.'

But his departure comes just a day after club owner Vladimir Romanov criticised Frail's time at the Tynecastle helm.

"In the past I had experience of allowing people to run the club, allowing locals to run the club, but that really didn't bring tangible results," he told BBC Scotland yesterday.

"Even in the beginning of the year, the team was managed by local people. It was fully their responsibility, nobody interfered with them.

"You knew who was in charge of the team, Stephen Frail, so in the end that did not bring good results.

"They lost a lot of places in the table, nearly falling down to the lower league."

Frail took charge of the Hearts team following a failed experiment alongside coaches Anatoly Korobochka and Angel Chervenkov, when Hearts languished in 10th place in the SPL.

He guided them to within touching distance of a top-six spot before the split, but a three-game losing streak at the end of the season left the Jambos in eighth overall.

The club said it would 'make an announcement on the appointment of a new football manager shortly', with Ian Holloway having emerged as a candidate today after claiming his agent was in talks with the club.

Current fitness coach Tom Ritchie has been taking pre-season training during Frail's absence.

I feel sorry for the guy. He may not have had to stay on as manager but i think he deserved a little loyalty from Hearts in some kind of coaching function.

Hearts are a mess, They are looking at Uganda'a Hungarian coach to take over. How did they manage to think that one up!!

It wouldnt surprise me one bit if they are fighting relegation this season.
