RANGERS' Homecoming Scottish Cup fifth round clash with Forfar Athletic has been postponed after an 8.30am pitch inspection.

The Loons' Station Park ground has been hit by the cold weather that has engulfed much of Britain over the last few days.

But with covers protecting the surface from the elements, it was deemed playable yesterday lunchtime by a local referee.

Match official Eddie Smith travelled to the Angus area last night and was at the ground first thing this morning,

After an extensive second inspection, he chose to call the match off and it will now take place on Wednesday 18 February at 7.45pm.

The quarter-final draw was due to be made at the Third Division outfit's ground after the match but it will now take place tomorrow at Hampden instead.

Eddie Smith eh? There's a definition of Rangers hating incompetence.

Terrible situation for those fans who were well on the road (or ferry) before Saint Eddie called the game off. It should have been cancelled yesterday - any damn fool could have assumed the game to be in danger. Who will cover the expenses of these fans - that's right, no one.
