  1. Past hour
  2. Correct. Collective responsibility. Doesn’t rule out assessments of individuals though.
  3. It was though - they said RM would have an input.
  4. Anyway, can't wait to be linked with Grant Hanley 😀😀😀
  5. That's a given mate. You wouldn't hire someone that didn't fit the system that you were trying to implement. Purdy and Thelwell will have ideas on who they want to sign, input and names will obviously be put forward by Martin as well. However for the most part I reckon there's a list of players already in place as Thelwell and Purdy have actually been working on this before the official announcements of their jobs.
  6. That's not how the explained how it would work. They were very clear, they wouldn't sign a player without RM approval, but, the recruitment apparently is done by his bosses
  7. Yes, but they are hardly going to hire a coach with a different philosophy than the club. They basically said they align when they explained why RM was always their number 1 target.
  8. It was reported that RM would have an input, so it's obvious he'll mention players he knows and thinks will fit the system It was also reported that RMs system aligns with the way the new board want to play. Its not rocket science so don't know why you are confused. Did you expect us to hire a coach who had a completely different philosophy than the board?
  9. It's a mix, and guess what, he's part of it. Loser mentality dripping right out of him.
  10. This is actually fundamentally wrong, and not indicative of the way Rangers are planning to operate. Russell Martin is a head coach, being dictated to by Thelwell on the style the club wants to implement and backed up by Purdy in recruiting players to fit that system and trading model. The SD has already expressed we want a mix of young players ready to be sold, with experienced heads in there that can guide to hopefully immediate returns on success, and molding those young players into sellable assets. Welcome to Modern Football.
  11. Players that RM knows? So not players identified by our new structure? Confused.com
  12. So, mentioning those managers, maybe it's down to managers / coaches / boards that we have been unsuccessful since our return to top flight and not Tav?
  13. I mentioned Van Dijk again as it appears some fans think we will have to sign "superstars" and if we don't, we're signing "pish". We aren't in a position, even after the takeover to be spending big in the transfer market. We will be signing experienced players the RM knows and thinks will fit his system, then we'll gamble of young players hoping they will develop and be sold on - its how a transfer model has to work. If you can't get your head around that, you are going to be stressed out every transfer window for a while.
  14. Mate, I'm no old enough. My time was Graeme Souness. And from what I've seen from GS to Walter Smith, Dick Advocaat, Alex McLeish, PLG, Walter again, McCoist etc. Tavernier is the worst Rangers captain I've come across that is just utterly connected to failure. The recent years after Steven Gerrard (after getting ourselves established and winning the top league again) have been catastrophic, absolute failure.
  15. Today
  16. 2nd time you've brought van dijk into the conversation, who cares about him? At least reading between the lines, we agree it's best Propper is gone. See, we can agree on some things P.s a long transfers window? 🤣🤣🤣, brain flash: we're in for a long season
  17. That's 1 aspect of his play (and we'll agree to disagree). He isn't the fastest, certainly isn't the slowest. He has other characteristics to his game, all mentioned by @Rousseau and he still plays at a decent level. If you can't see or accept that even with his lack of pace, he'd be an upgrade on what we have, you are in for a very long transfer window. Did you think we'd be able to jump directly from Propper to Van Dijk? No, we'll have to improve on what we have, then keep improving.
  18. We live in a world of the Internet. Just go watch some videos of Coady if you don't want to accept he can't run
  19. Sorry, I will rephrase. They were pish in Scotland
  20. There are competitive failures (their niar) and there are catastrophic failures (recent times)
  21. You the one making a thing of the age here, i was ranting about the age one 1 potential target . My original post was they all came from England with high wages, and good references and turned out pish. The post is above. Feel free to read it again
  22. I know I am, but we're talking about Coady.
  23. You're all over the place, are we judging players in this instance on age, if their legs are gone or just labeling everything related to Rangers as pish? Silva proved last season, if played in the correct system, he is a very effective player.
  24. CammyF, he's slower than a week in jail.
  25. Wouldn't say he's "overly slow". His passing, reading of the game amd physicality would suggest he's upgrade to what we currently have. That's all we can hope for; that any new signings are better than the players we currently have.
  26. They were really special, they were young, and still turned out pish
