  1. Aye, I'm the same. When it comes to loan players I'd rather see our own getting an opportunity, unless it is an experienced player who is going to come straight into the first team and perform

I can't see them taking him on loan for a season if they don't think he is gd enough for the first team, likewise arsene wenger letting him go out on loan if he isn't going to play first team football that would just be pointless from both clubs view!

  2. Rangers to trial Arsenal youngster on ex-Celtic boss recommendation

    Tue, 10 Aug 2010 09:14:03 GMT

Rangers will give a trial to Arsenal youngster Nacer Barazite in their friendly with Glentoran on Tuesday night. The 20-year-old, who has made three appearances for the Gunners, was recommended to the SPL champions by former Celtic manager Liam Brady.

Brady, who is now involved with the London clubs youth academy, made it possible for Ian Durrant to include the Dutch forward in his squad for the game, which will see a youthful Rangers line-up take to the field.

The performance of Barazite on the evening will be of particular interest to Gers boss Walter Smith, who has previously spoken of his desire to sign wide players to bolster his squad ahead of the new season.

ââ?¬Å?The squad will be mostly made up of reserve players but it is still very strong and there are players here who have already, or will this season, play in the first team,ââ?¬Â Durrant told the Belfast Telegraph ahead of the game against Glentoran.

ââ?¬Å?We will have a young lad on trial for us called Nacer Barazite who comes to us from Arsenal and was highly recommended by Liam Brady and that will be a good opportunity for us and the Rangers fans in Belfast to have a look at him.ââ?¬Â

Barazite, who was born in Nijmegen in Holland to Moroccan parents, is a current Under-21 international with Oranje. He has also represented his country at Under-17, Under-19 and Under-20 levels, featuring in the Under-17 European Championship in 2007.

A versatile attacking player, 6ft 2in Barazite spent the 2008/09 season on loan at Derby County, playing 36 times for the Rams as they reached the semi-finals of the Carling Cup. It was in the same competition the player made his three appearances under Arsene Wenger, last playing in the game with West Bromwich Albion in September 2009.

Barazite is capable of playing in any position going forward, having been deployed all across the midfield and up front for Arsenal as he has worked his way through the ranks. During his time at Derby, he featured mainly on the right wing.

  3. The Sun is not running an spl dream team this year due to there almighty f**k up last season so everything has moved to the EPL dream team with more money, I have set up a mini league if anybody wants to join you are more than welcome. There is also indivual prizes this year with best scoring league format introduced. My mini-league name is RFC LIGA 1 and the password is COOPER. The pin code is 110159. Get studying and i hope to see some fellow Bluenoses join and win some cash.

  4. Can't see this one happening not unless they were offered a silly amount, don't think anyone would pay over 2 mil for him. Remember he had 2 spells down south with wolves and derby and he didn't really set the heather alight!

  5. actually i would rather play with flair and guile and win.

I am going to say my last on smith and leave it at that. had our chairman recognsed smiths shortcommings and his innability to compete at the highest level instead of throwing all our cash at him and employed a better of quality of manager then we might not be in the mess we are in now.

hes hed far too many chances and wasted far too much cash trying to take us too the next level. hes right there in the thick of it as far as our problems are concerned and should be held accountable for the part hes played.

I think we would all like to play with flair and win but lets face we have not got the resources for that to happen, we are what we are, i wouldnt say murray has thrown massive amounts of money at him in terms of the amount of years he as been manager in both spells, everybody knows Advocaat's tenure was the the we are paying for now, were u complaining when we went on the uefa cup run or winning the past 2 league titles and cups, i think its a personal thing u have with smith has he pumped ur missus or something?
  6. Kuanus and Unirea. If you dont think we were humiliated by those two then you are either blind or have the skin of 6 rhinos!

Smiths record is diplorable. and as for his style of play, it isnt that he chooses it, its the only way he knows. hes a one trick pony.

i am of the thinking that football that isnt worth watching isnt worth playing so i dont accept the dour but effective excuse that is used in the defence of smith. our manager is limited in his ability, its plain for all too see.

Dont see how you can say his record is diplorable, took us to the final of a european competition that i think i can safely say no supporter thought we would see in many of years, had some decent results in champions league games apart from the obvious. what u need to remember this guy is working with a the bear threads of money and has been since he came back, lets be honest we cant match the cream of europe on any level so we have to play to our limits and if that resorts to a 9-1-0 and we get a 0-0 draw with real madrid at the bernabeu ill take it because it is not flair that gets u points its results that gets u points. Jose mourinho, carlo ancelotti, alex ferguson they could all come to Rangers but at the end of the day they would have to resort to the same as walter because thats the resources we have, and as for this shite that people say i would rather watch a flair to get beat than a dour team win is ludicrous ITS A RESULTS BUSINESS DEAL WITH IT!!!!!!

  7. just got a text saying that everton are in for Davis. anyone else heard this?

It's on a few websites and the daily record is reporting it, a lot of them say 5mil subject to arteta or pienaar leaving which it looks like arteta will be! This would be a travesty if it happens and 5 mil is nowhere near enough!

  8. I think it would be a bad thing if he went, we would struggle to find another player of his quality on the limited funds we have, I think bougherra could have great season in it left or right back with they surging runs and we could have Webster and weir in the middle we will still nd another centre half for cover for weir as I don't know whether he will be able to sustain the level of games he played last season I have my doubts, but defo bougie to stay as said previously walter won't get the money from his sale so why sell?

  9. I think you've forgotten the holding roles he played in Euro ties. He was excellent there but couldn't get a place in the system Walter used for SPL games.

Le guen defo got rid if him, u might be thinking of hemdani who was used in there by walter for European games!

  10. Hamed Namouchi isnt ruling out the possibility of returning to Rangers, following his release by German club SC Freiburg. The Tunisian international played 51 times for the SPL side from 2003 to 2006, before switching to French side FC Lorient.

Namouchi played for three seasons in France before moving to Freiburg in December 2009 on a short-term deal. But the Bundesliga side declined to offer him a new contract, with the French-born player now training alone in Cannes.

On the lookout for a new club, Namouchi doesnt want to discount the chance to move to any team, including Turkish club Sivasspor, who he came close to joining last December, and his former club.

Asked about a possible return to Rangers, Namouchi Namouchi told foot365.fr: ââ?¬Å?Iââ?¬â?¢ve already played for one of the two best clubs [in Scotland], so itââ?¬â?¢s not really about finding a bigger challenge. But at the same time I donââ?¬â?¢t want to rule it out.

ââ?¬Å?I am looking for a club and I am waiting to find one. I am training at my house in Cannes. I am physically sharp, I am just missing playing in matches.ââ?¬Â

Namouchis availability would fit the blueprint for budget signings in a Rangers squad which has had to contend with six high-profile departures over the summer. But, together with the goalkeeper position, central midfield is one of the SPL champions strongest areas.

Steven Davis, Maurice Edu and Lee McCulloch are all currently vying to play through the middle, while defender Madjid Bougherra can also turn his hand to playing further forward. Youngster Jamie Ness is also pushing for a chance to prove his worth in midfield.

During his time at Rangers, Namouchi was an SPL winner in 2005 before Paul le Guen deemed him surplus to requirements a year later. He moved to Ligue 1 for £500,000 soon after the French managerâs arrival.

Rangers are currently in Australia participating in a three-game tournament, with Sydney FC their next opponents on Wednesday. Blackburn Rovers have already been defeated 2-1, with AEK Athens lying in wait on Saturday.

  11. Yep, for all his flaws, Weir has been a fine servant for the club and his contribution shouldn't be under-estimated.

Will this be a season too far for him? Possibly but his presence certainly calms me for the most part.

Agreed he has being a great signing considering he came in as a 6 month stop gap signing he has surpassed I think everyone expectations and whether this is a season to far remains to be seen, I don't think he will play as many games ie cup games, but if he does get a sufficient amount of rest I don't see why he can't be a mainstay fir us again in the spl. Champs league maybe be a step to far for him this season and I would maybe like to see boughy and Webster in there but there's no doubt we would miss his experience in those big games but he might not have the legs for the best in Europe!

  12. Don't know much about either of them apart from they scored against France, the centre half looks like a big lad and good in the air but with weir, Webster and boughy who is going to play in there? I can see bougherra playing rb or lb a lot more this season, by the way if these bafana bafana boys sign there better not be an influx of the vuvuzelas in the megastore dontbthink I could handle them all season

  13. He was quite good against them and seems to be decent enough. Shame about the CL ineligibility but I would have him if the money was right. He is in his last year of his contract as well so they shouldn't be able to hold out for stupid money and he plays in Austria not a hugely attractive league.

He is only 24 so u would have to think good sell on value aswell if he does come and do job! Also seen in the daily record today that were after James Beattie I think he would score goals up here but he is 32 and think Stoke was looking for about 1.5 mil which is a bit pricey for a 32 year old!
