  3. Not really. If you said it two months ago and he’s still here, that’s not “going soon”.😉

The 24-year-old is entering the final 12 months of his contract with his boyhood heroes but will not put pen-to-paper on an extension as he seeks a move to kick-start his career. And Rangers now run the risk of losing one of their most promising up-and-coming talents for free next summer unless they do a deal that will see McCrorie bring an end to his lengthy association with the club in the coming weeks. Herald and Times Sport understands that McCrorie was given assurances over his place in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s plans this term but now feels that he has no option but to head for the exit door to avoid another wasted season on the bench after a change in stance at Ibrox. It is understood that Manchester United have added McCrorie - who was called up for Scotland duty for the recent Nations League clashes with the Republic of Ireland and Armenia - to their list of potential targets this summer as incoming boss Erik ten Hag prepares for an extensive overhaul of the Red Devils squad. A handful of English clubs are keeping close tabs on McCrorie’s situation as he prepares to return to pre-season action with Van Bronckhorst’s squad and aims to hit the ground running ahead of the new campaign. But that will not be to stake his claim for the number one jersey this term as boss Van Bronckhorst gets set to put his faith in Jon McLaughlin despite Allan McGregor signing a new Ibrox deal this week after deciding not to hang up his gloves. McCrorie made two appearances for Rangers last term as he deputised for McGregor during the Europa League stalemate with Alashkert and then produced an accomplished showing on his Old Firm debut as Celtic were beaten at Ibrox. But he has now been left disillusioned with the keeper situation and will look to move on for the sake of his career as Rangers are left to recruit another shot-stopper to provide back-up to McLaughlin and McGregor during the upcoming campaign.
  6. https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/sport/20226152.ian-maxwell-denies-douglas-park-request-sfa-investigation-rangers-sponsorship-dispute-spfl/ Ian Maxwell denies Douglas Park request for SFA investigation into Rangers' sponsorship dispute with SPFL By Graeme McGarry@Graeme_McGarrySenior Sports Writer Rangers chairman Douglas Park claimed victory after the SPFL were forced to renegotiate their sponsorship deal with cinch over objections from Rangers. SFA chief executive Ian Maxwell has told Rangers and the SPFL that their dispute has nothing to do with the Scottish game’s governing body, as he denied the request of Ibrox chairman Douglas Park to hold an independent investigation into the dispute involving the Premiership’s main sponsor, cinch. Park and Rangers claimed victory after the long-running saga finally ended last week with the SPFL renegotiating it’s deal with the firm so that the Ibrox club were not required to display their branding at their stadium or on their jerseys. A statement from Park’s Motor Group though slammed the SPFL for their handling of the issue, and demanded that the SFA investigate after the reputational damage and financial losses they have incurred throughout the legal process. Maxwell says though that the SFA will not look to get involved beyond the arbitration process they previously facilitated, and he sees no reason why the SPFL couldn’t set up an independent investigation of their own. “The arbitration is closed,” Maxwell said. “The SPFL have written to us to say it was their arbitration, they instigated and they have withdrawn their notice. So the arbitration as far as we are concerned is over. “In a broader sense, none of those disputes can be good for the game. There have been two or three since I have been in the post that we have had to deal with. They cannot be good for the public perception of the game because it is in-fighting and actually you need to get round the table and sort things out. “The arbitration has been dealt with. In terms of Rangers and the SPFL if they have a misunderstanding or there’s a complication around the rules or there’s a question mark around how they should be interpreting the rules then that’s actually for them to sort out amongst themselves. “The SPFL can set up their own independent enquiry to go and look at that and make sure everyone understands exactly how the regulations work going forward. I don’t think that’s something for us. Recommended by “It is an internal disagreement on the interpretation of their rules – that is how we got to this point. Obviously the arbitration process is now closed down so I think it is one for the SPFL board. There is no reason they can’t set up something to have a look at that. “If there is a breach of regulations we get involved. We would not get involved in anything outside of that. You would end up getting involved in absolutely everything. There has to be a line somewhere. “We have a judicial panel process. If there’s something comes to light that we have to look at from that perspective then we do it. “From an arbitration perspective, the simplest way I can define this is that it is a debate that happens in our house. We just get one party to talk to the other party and they sort it out between themselves. “We are not actually involved in a meaningful way. It is just we organise a process and make sure things happen the right way and try and find a resolution.”

  10. https://www.rangers.co.uk/article/allan-mcgregor-signs-contract-extension/feAvnDFGwGvqXsVGwSn7Q RANGERS are delighted to announce goalkeeper Allan McGregor has today signed a one-year contract extension. McGregor, 40, has made an astonishing 469 appearances for the club to date, with 48 of them coming last season where he made a huge contribution to Gers reaching the UEFA Europa League final. After coming through the club’s youth programme, McGregor featured on the substitutes bench for the Light Blues as far back as January 1999 when he was just 16, in an away match at Dundee. It wasn’t until the 2001/02 campaign that he became a more familiar figure around the first-team as a number of experienced goalkeepers departed, meaning he became the permanent number two to the legendary Stefan Klos. His debut for the club came in a Scottish Cup tie at Forfar Athletic in the February of that season, with the club going on to win both that and the League Cup that year.
  11. leonbalogun Verified Took me some time, but eventually it is time for me to say goodbye … Thank you to every single soul at the club working their socks of, making sure me and the boys can focus on performing at our best. A lot of whom we work with on a daily basis: kitchen staff, medical staff, sports scientists and athletic trainers, as well as our two girls Katy and Hannah. You have shown and taught me -in your very own way- the dedication that is expected and I thank your for that. Thank you to the managing staff and especially to my amazing team mates over the 2 seasons, who welcomed me from day one as a player and a friend. Who have pushed me to be better and taught me the Rangers way. A lot of highs, a few lows that made our bond even stronger. We became invincible champions, the class of 55 … those magical European nights at Ibrox that led us all the way to the final. And eventually we crowned my time at the club with the Scottish cup. Thanks for all the memories, the laughter and for sharing some of the best moments in my career with me. And last but not least, a massive thank you to you, the supporters. You are one crazy, passionate bunch. High expectations, that can be intimidating at times - but I loved every single second of it. All your messages over the past 2 weeks have been incredibly overwhelming for me and at the same time they’re the greatest testimonial I can get for my time at Rangers. It has been an absolute privilege and honour to represent you near and far. One of the most frequent questions I’ve been asked in my time at Rangers was if I understand the size of the club and what it means - thanks to you, I do now. We are the people and you are my people - Forever Blue 💙
  12. Clear win for Rangers. Under the terms of the revised cinch contract, Rangers are no longer required to participate by providing the sponsorship inventory that they have so far not provided.... ....delivers the same level of financial support to Scottish football, whilst providing additional SPFL media assets to cinch to compensate for loss of Rangers-related rights
  13. We Win. https://news.stv.tv/sport/spfl-agree-revised-sponsorship-deal-with-cinch-amid-rangers-row SPFL agree revised sponsorship deal with cinch amid Rangers row Neil Doncaster has hailed the new deal as 'extremely good news' for Scottish football. Cinch: New deal for Scottish football. By Peter Cassidy ‘Sheer hard work’ helped Celtic regain Premiership title under Postecoglou Former director Paul Murray says league title must be Rangers’ priority The SPFL has agreed a revised title sponsorship deal with cinch amid a row with Rangers over advertising. Under the terms of the new deal, which comes into force with immediate effect, the Ibrox club will no longer be required to participate by providing the agreed sponsorship inventory, which they have so far failed to provide. The SPFL say the revised deal protects the car dealership’s investment into Scottish football with bosses saying they are confident their current budget of £27.5m for the 2021/22 season will be exceeded. Chief executive Neil Doncaster has welcomed the deal, which has been approved by the Premiership clubs, as “extremely good news”. Advertisement He said: “Under the terms of the revised cinch contract, Rangers are no longer required to participate by providing the sponsorship inventory that they have so far not provided, whilst, crucially, the overall income to Scottish football is expected to remain materially unchanged over the original five-year term of the sponsorship. “This revised package has now been approved by cinch Premiership Clubs. “It’s extremely good news that we have been able to work with our partners at cinch to develop an updated sponsorship package which delivers the same level of financial support to Scottish football, whilst providing additional SPFL media assets to cinch to compensate for loss of Rangers related rights. It is testament to the strength of our relationship with cinch, and the high value they place on it, that they have agreed to move forward with us on this basis. “This deal gives us further confidence that we will exceed our budget and deliver fees to clubs of more than £27.5m for Season 2021/22.” Murdoch MacLennan, chairman of the SPFL, added: “This is a great outcome for the entire game in Scotland. Our friends at cinch have been brilliant to deal with throughout this whole process. Advertisement “There is so much to celebrate in the SPFL as cinch and our clubs look forward with excitement to the launch of the 2022/23 fixture list this Friday.” A spokesman for cinch said: “We welcome the evolution of our agreement with the SPFL and are proud of our continued investment into Scottish football across all four cinch SPFL leagues. “We are very much looking forward to next season and to continuing the stellar growth of our business in Scotland.”

  16. https://www.rangers.co.uk/article/a-thank-you-from-rangers/2K7yKztN0NQowde3inMDXv RANGERS would today like to put on record their sincere thanks to the club’s supporters, with over 45,000 season tickets renewed by today’s deadline. It is another incredible show of strength from our fans, who have cemented Ibrox as one of Europe’s most iconic sporting venues with a series of atmospheres that undoubtedly assisted in carrying Gio van Bronckhorst’s side all the way to the UEFA Europa League final. That figure of over 45,000 represents a new record at the renewal date, with the manager and his players once again able to count on your unmatched backing when the new season gets underway. Subject to availability, supporters who have requested a seat transfer will have their request reviewed from Monday 13 June. New sales of any remaining season tickets to supporters on the MyGers waiting list will then begin from Monday 27 June. In both instances, successful supporters will be contacted by email.

  18. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/cma-provisionally-finds-illegal-price-fixing-of-rangers-fc-merchandise Press release CMA provisionally finds illegal price-fixing of Rangers FC merchandise The CMA has provisionally found that Elite Sports, JD Sports and Rangers Football Club broke competition law by fixing the retail prices of certain Rangers-branded clothing products. From: Competition and Markets Authority Published 7 June 2022 If confirmed, the companies involved can expect to face fines. The provisional findings are: Elite Sports and JD Sports fixed the retail prices of a number of Rangers-branded replica kits and other clothing products from September 2018 until at least July 2019. Rangers FC also took part in the alleged collusion but only to the extent of fixing the retail price of adult home short-sleeved replica shirts from September 2018 to at least mid-November 2018. All 3 parties allegedly colluded to stop JD Sports undercutting the retail price of the shirt on Elite’s Gers Online store. At the time, Elite was the manufacturer of Rangers-branded clothing and also sold Rangers-branded products directly through Gers Online Store and later in bricks-and-mortar shops in Glasgow and Belfast. The only UK-wide major retailer selling those products at the time was JD Sports. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) alleges that Rangers FC became concerned about the fact that, at the start of the 2018-19 football season, JD Sports was selling the Rangers replica top at a lower price than Elite, which was seen at the time as the club’s ‘retail partner’. This resulted in an understanding between the 3 parties that JD Sports would increase its retail price of the Rangers adult short-sleeved home replica shirt by nearly 10%, from £55 to £60, to bring it in line with the prices being charged by Elite on Gers Online. The CMA is also concerned that Elite and JD Sports – without involvement from Rangers –colluded to fix the retail prices of Rangers-branded clothing, including training wear and replica kit, over a longer period. This included aligning the level and timing of discounts towards the end of the football season in 2019, to avoid competition between them and protect their profit margins at the expense of fans. Elite and JD Sports applied for leniency during the CMA’s investigation and confessed to cartel activity. Provided they continue to cooperate with the investigation, each will receive a reduction on any financial penalties the CMA may decide to impose. Any business found to have infringed the prohibitions in the Competition Act 1998 can be fined up to 10% of its annual worldwide group turnover. Michael Grenfell, Executive Director of Enforcement at the CMA, said: We don’t hesitate to take action when we have concerns that companies may be working together to keep costs up. Football fans are well-known for their loyalty towards their teams. We are concerned that, in this case, Elite, JD Sports and, to some extent, Rangers, may have colluded to keep prices high, so that the 2 retailers could pocket more money for themselves at the expense of fans. These are the CMA’s provisional findings and the companies involved now have the chance to make representations to the CMA before it reaches a final decision. More information can be found on the case page: Suspected anti-competitive behaviour in relation to the pricing of Rangers FC-branded replica football kit. Notes to editors: For media enquiries, contact the CMA press office on 020 3738 6460 or press@cma.gov.uk. The Chapter I prohibition in the Competition Act 1998 prohibits agreements and concerted practices between businesses which have as their object or effect the prevention, restriction or distortion of competition within the UK. The statement of objections is addressed to the following parties: Elite Sports Group Limited and its parent company Elite Corporation Limited; JD Sports Fashion Plc; and The Rangers Football Club Limited and its parent company Rangers International Football Club Plc. A statement of objections gives parties notice of a proposed infringement decision under the Competition Act 1998. It is a provisional decision only and does not necessarily lead to an infringement decision. Parties have the opportunity to make written and oral representations on the matters set out in the statement of objections. Any such representations will be considered by the CMA before a final decision is made. The final decision will be taken by a case decision group, which is separate from the investigation team and was not involved in the decision to issue the statement of objections. The statement of objections will not be published. However, any person who in the CMA’s view is directly and materially affected by the outcome of the CMA’s investigation and is likely materially to assist the CMA in its investigation may request a non-confidential version of the statement of objections by contacting the CMA. Under the CMA’s leniency policy, a business that has been involved in a cartel may be granted immunity from penalties or a significant reduction in penalty in return for reporting cartel activity and assisting the CMA with its investigation. Individuals involved in cartel activity may also in certain defined circumstances be granted immunity from criminal prosecution for the cartel offence under the Enterprise Act 2002 and from competition disqualification proceedings. The CMA also operates a rewards policy under which it may pay a financial reward of up to £100,000 in return for information which helps it to identify and take action against cartels. For more information on the CMA’s leniency and informant reward policies, go to leniency and rewards. Anyone who has information about a cartel is encouraged to call the CMA cartels hotline on 020 3738 6888 or email cartelshotline@cma.gov.uk.

  21. Rangers midfielder, Joe Aribo says he is focused on staying at the club despite rumours linking him with a move away from Ibrox. Aribo’s contract with the Gers will expire in 2023 and the Nigerian is yet to pen a new deal fuelling speculations he could be set for a move elsewhere. The versatile midfielder has also been linked with a move to the Premier League, with the likes of Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and West Ham United said to be interested in his services. The 25-year-old has, however, debunked the reports and stated that he is focused on continuing at the club. “I don’t know. I never knew about anything to be honest, I just focused on football. I’m happy at Rangers, I’ve been happy since I got here and I’ve loved every single minute of it,” Aribo told Brila FM. “So I’ve just been focused on here and I just want to stay focused because at the end of the day, I’m a Rangers player and I’m not thinking about leaving, because I’m really happy here,” he said. Aribo scored nine goals and provided 10 assists in 56 appearances across all competitions for Rangers in the 2021/22 season
  22. If anyones interested. PREMIERSHIP referee Craig Napier says the 'culture in Scottish football must change' after revealing he is gay. The Category One whistler was followed by fellow Scottish ref Lloyd Wilson in coming out this morning. Napier admitted it wasn't ever something he imagined opening up on but was inspired by recent stories. Napier becomes the first figure within Scottish football to come out in a hugely significant step forward. He admits it has been a difficult journey to reach this point and says while the topic shouldn't be a news story, it remains important that others see prominent figures having the conversation. Speaking with the Scottish FA, he said: “It’s something that I never thought I would be sitting here doing. It’s something I have lived with for a long time. “It’s been a difficult journey to get to this point but over the past couple of years it has become easier. “I think it is really important that people like me are willing to sit here and do this. I don’t think this needs to be a news story but I think at this moment it really does. “We need to see the climate change so that people feel they can be their true self and live happily and comfortably in their own skin. That then needs to transcend into football. “I think it’s been really inspiring to see what has happened recently. Josh Cavallo first of all then Jake Daniels more recently. Jake at just 17 announcing to everyone his sexuality and I think many people would take inspiration from that “But they might also think ‘I am not brave enough to take this step, what if my friends don’t accept me or my family rejects my sexuality?’ “So what I wanted to add to the conversation was I have never had a bad experience when having these conversations. “I have always felt so much lighter having spoken about it. “This isn’t a conversation about me. It’s one about trying to change the culture in Scottish football. I can’t go back and change decisions I have made to get here but I feel I can pass on to others to not make the same mistakes. "Don’t waste time you could spend with other people. Live your life as it is not something you can change. “It’s a lot of wasted energy worrying about whether you will lose friends over it, whether you won’t get promoted in refereeing because of it or whether you won’t get selected for the first team because of it. “I think people would be better served enjoying their life as their true self and that is the message I want people to take away." Wilson followed Napier in revealing his sexuality and said he no longer wanted to 'live a lie'. Wilson has had games in the lower leagues and cups and also served as a fourth official in the Premiership. He told Back Onside: "This has been a horrific journey to be honest. A journey of maybe about 17 years of living a life that I didn't want to live, living a lie. "Living the way that other people wanted me to live, or that I thought other people wanted me to live. Probably directed and dictated in many ways by football. "The biggest worry for me was being judged differently from my colleagues who are not gay. "I suppose being judged by fans for who I am off the field rather than who I am on it. "At the end of the day I am a referee. I will get things right and I will get many things wrong, we all do because it's the nature of the job. "But I want to be judged for the decisions I make on the pitch and not those that I make off. "I feel doing this interview, that I must say I am petrified about, is absolutely crucial for not just my colleagues
