PRESS CONFERENCE | Steven Gerrard & Andy Halliday | 19 Oct 2018
BEARGER replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Aye he’d handled the sneaky question to Haliday with ease, you can see the contempt he has for some of the press. -
I see that tickets that Aberdeen sold in the east stand have been cancelled and their fans relocated to south stand.

SPFL cut Aberdeen's cup semi-final ticket allocation Daryn MacRae 18 October 2018 The SPFL have reduced the size of the Dons' Hampden section after poor sales. Reduced: Aberdeen's Hampden section has been reduced. SNS Aberdeen have had their ticket allocation for the League Cup semi-final with Rangers reduced by the SPFL due to poor ticket sales. Originally, the Dons were allocated 20,300 tickets for the Hampden showdown but that number has been reduced as the Pittodrie side have sold just over 9000 tickets to date. As a result, the SPFL have taken back Aberdeen's section of the East Stand, with some supporters now needing to be relocated to the South Stand instead. The Dons say they still have 5,500 tickets to sell, with access to more available if the requisite demand can be demonstrated in the coming days. A statement on the club's website said: "Despite strong initial sales, particularly from our supporters' clubs, overall ticket sales for the match have fallen short of the demand expected. "Given current sales figures, with the SPFL recording less than 100 being sold by Aberdeen FC today, the SPFL have now taken back certain sections of the East Stand. "The focus now quickly turns to building on the tickets that have been sold to fulfil the remainder of our allocation and ensure that the team walk out to a wall of noise from Dons supporters in attendance."

POLL: Club 1872 Board Member Affirmation The next stage in the election process is the affirmation of any existing Club 1872 board members who wish to seek member approval to continue for another term. The Club 1872 constitution allows for up to one half of the serving board to seek affirmation for another term. Under the changes just voted through by members, this means that up to two existing directors can seek affirmation. Following discussion amongst the existing Club 1872 board, it has been agreed that Joanne Percival and Euan Macfarlane will put themselves forward for affirmation by members. Any other existing board members who wish to seek another term can present themselves for election once applications open in the coming days. If affirmed, Joanne and Euan will serve a three year term on the Club 1872 board. Should they wish to continue beyond that time they would have to submit themselves for election in line with the Club 1872 constitution. Joanne and Euan have prepared the following statement to members in support of their affirmation. "With over 18 months’ experience of working together as part of a team of volunteers, and with the support of our fellow Club 1872 Directors we are delighted to take this opportunity to submit ourselves for affirmation. We have served together as Directors for the past year, overseeing a major campaign that led to the organisation investing £1m directly into Rangers through the purchase of shares. Club 1872 remains the second largest shareholder in the club, an achievement we’re both very proud of. In March we took on the responsibility of jointly managing the Projects Working Group, and have since delivered two projects - the purchase of an adapted road vehicle to assist supporters with mobility difficulties, and the funding of a Walking Football programme in partnership with the Rangers Charity Foundation. It has been a pleasure to work alongside the Club 1872 members who volunteer on that group, and we are currently in the process of assessing more projects to submit to the wider membership for approval. It is our hope that with members’ support we will be given the opportunity to continue building on the strong working relationships we’ve developed within the Rangers community, including the Rangers Charity Foundation and RYDC. This would allow us to continue progressing the work we’ve started on potential projects and community engagement; we are in the process of developing a formal intake model to allow supporters to communicate more effectively with the club through Club 1872. During the affirmation vote we will continue to carry out our duties as directors. Should we be affirmed, we will maintain our commitment through the election process which is due to take place in the coming weeks. We believe this would bring stability to the organisation during a process that requires a great deal of administrative and practical input. The affirmation process was included in our constitution to give members the opportunity to ensure the organisation doesn’t suffer the disruption caused by a whole new board coming in. We believe we have the knowledge, skills and commitment to provide stability and continuity over the coming weeks and years. We thank you for your support over the past year and your consideration at this time." We would ask you to vote by clicking the link below and logging in to your account - you will then be automatically redirected to the poll. The poll will close at midnight on Tuesday 23rd October: VOTE HERE Club 1872

Neil McCann: Dundee manager leaves role after 18 months in charge 16 minutes ago From the sectionDundee 6 Sharethis page Neil McCann had been in charge at Dundee since April 2017 Neil McCann has left his role as Dundee manager with the side bottom of the Scottish Premiership after seven defeats in eight games. McCann, 44, had been in charge at Dens Park since April 2017. A run of six straight league losses ended with victory at Hamilton but another defeat followed at home to Kilmarnock on 6 October. The Dens Park side also lost 3-0 to Championship team Ayr United in the League Cup. Dundee, who have also relieved assistant manager Graham Gartland of his role, return to league action away to Livingston on Saturday following the international break. The club said in a statement: "We have explored alternative options to support the management staff recently but unfortunately these did not come to fruition. "We would like thank Neil and Graham for their efforts while in charge and wish them all the best for the future." McCann, who had two spells at Dundee as a player, took over from Paul Hartley with the club sitting in the relegation play-off spot and steered them to the safety of 10th in a five-game spell as interim manager. He then performed a U-turn on his decision to return to his previous role as a television pundit, finishing ninth in his first full season. Thirteen new players were added to the squad in a major summer overhaul, including Kenny Miller after the veteran striker's brief spell as Livingston player-manager. But results were disappointing and the side have struggled to find the net so far this term, scoring just five so far in the league.

I’m not saying we have great players but I would bet my pension that our players are better man for man than the Israelis. Thats the level we are up against and failed miserably due to a manger playing players out of position, picking wrong players etc.
-
You do wonder, all the others brought in have been reasonable at the least.
-
I actually think we have some reasonable players and with a decent manager should top our section. Not saying we would beat any of the big nations football wise.

McLeish thinks it was good performance and Scotland played well. https://mobile.twitter.com/SkyFootball/status/1051541150853664768/video/1

Another dismal performance against Portugal reserves.

At this time you have a better chance of playing.

Club 1872 Statement - Paul Gascoigne's Scottish Hall of Fame nomination The decision of the Scottish Football Hall of Fame committee and the Scottish Football Association to withdraw the nomination of Paul Gascoigne to the Scottish Football Hall of Fame, once again highlights the incredible hypocrisy of Scottish football’s governing bodies. As far as Club 1872 is aware, moral issues are not the dominion of the Hall of Fame committee however it now appears there is a moral test which some individuals must pass to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. The SFA and the committee should clarify whether they will be assessing the moral fibre of all past and future entries using this test. If Hall of Fame positions are to be judged on contribution to the Scottish game then there is no question that Paul Gascoigne should be honoured. If not, then many more than him will need to be stripped of this accolade or be deemed ineligible for induction. The SFA recently released the new Scotland kit and used a player convicted on racism related charges as the pin-up boy for their marketing campaign. They also employ another individual in a high profile position who has previously made headlines for overtly racist, sexist and homophobic comments. SFA board members indicated no concern whatsoever when these individuals took prominent roles in promoting and running their organisation. They should now publicly clarify which SFA board members objected and if any attempts were made to influence the committee to withdraw the nomination. Aside from the hypocrisy of the SFA we are also extremely concerned by the attempt to blame Paul’s health for the reversal of the nomination. On the back of Mental Health Awareness Day, this reference is not only offensive but irresponsible, and demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of mental health issues. Club 1872 wishes Paul all the best with his health challenges and we hope that the Rangers family and wider football community will be able to provide him with the support that has been so lacking in this troubling and shameful episode. POLL REMINDER: Club 1872 Election Process A reminder to members that our current poll will close at midnight on Sunday 14th October. If you have not yet voted then please take the opportunity to do so prior to this time. The original poll email is copied below. Elections for the Club 1872 boards will take place in the coming weeks. In preparation for this the organisation has undertaken a review of our current election process and the criteria for standing for election. We have reviewed feedback from members and working group volunteers, and looked closely at best practice at a number of other supporter organisations across the UK and beyond. Club 1872 is an organisation in its infancy and as we evolve, we strive to improve and strengthen our foundations. In its first two years Club 1872 made significant share purchases, becoming the second largest shareholder in RIFC when we purchased shares from MASH Holdings. More recently we invested £1m directly into RIFC through a share issue. An organisation with such a significant shareholding and the potential to participate in decision-making at Rangers should be secure and protected from instability and disruption. It is with this in mind that the Club 1872 board has approached discussions about how future boards should be elected and the length of term they should serve. We previously wrote to you to indicate that we would poll members on extending the term for future Club 1872 board members. The current one year term is an issue that has been raised by a number of members over the past year. It is also something that was discussed in a meeting with RIFC Chairman, Dave King in connection with an RIFC board place. The current one year term creates challenges in progressing long term plans, and the annual election process causes a significant period of upheaval each year which disrupts crucial work in taking the organisation forward. Please note: any members’ authorisation to change the length of directors’ terms will only be implemented from the next election and/or affirmation process. Current directors’ terms cannot be extended without either election or affirmation. The Club 1872 board has also discussed a number of other ideas that could potentially protect and increase the stability of the organisation. In line with our constitution, it is for members to decide whether those changes should be implemented through the adoption of a new Election Schedule. We would ask you to vote by clicking the link below and logging in to your account - you will then be automatically redirected to the poll. The poll will close at midnight on Sunday 14th October: Club 1872

The Founders Trail and Ibrox Stadium Tour Dates 2019.
BEARGER replied to The Moonlighter's topic in Rangers Chat
Cannot recommend this tour enough, a must for every fan. -
Probably one of the worst performances I’ve witnessed and that’s saying something. Managed to make a piss poor Israel team look like world beaters. Not that we should be surprised with McLeish tactics, plays both Robertson and Tierney and both out of position.
