Some of the comments on this thread make me laugh. If we want a young 25+ goals a season striker who scores in 50% of his games, I think about £60m should just about cover that. We have to take risks. We have no option if we are to compete.
We have no option but to put our trust in the football management team. I'm sure they know what they are doing. If they think these risks are worth taking, that's good enough for me.
How about:
Age: 22
Apps/Goals: 130/70
Price: £1m
Not bad stats....and costs a helluva lot less than £60m!!! Fortunately we already have him (Morelos), but it goes to show that you don't need to spend £60m+ to get a player that matches the required stats.....it just takes careful & meticulous scouting.
There are players out that with good stats & if we're looking to bring in strikers/forwards/target men, I for one, want them to be able to score goals - I don't want another Kenny Miller who will run his heart out for 90 mins, but not really contribute that much overall. We need defenders that can defend, midfielders who can dictate & distribute, and forwards that can score.

What are you expecting, though? A goalscorer that'll get 25 goals? He's not that type, as his record shows.
He's a target- and link-up man. He's good on the break too. He gives us options, so in that sense it's not an "outside bet", he's just giving a specific skill-set that you are overlooking.
IMO.
based on Busters numbers....that's not very encouraging for a forward/attacking player - we get more goals than that from our right-back!!!!
We should be bringing in someone (ideally) that is scoring in about 50% of games played on average. Someone that is at least getting into double figures for a season.

If it's a scheduled scan, it's either nothing much to worry about, or we're getting REALLY good at predicting injuries.
Given that there are only a few days left in Spain, it probably wouldn't be worthwhile flying him back out.

In my opinion we've signed a very good player if he can reach anywhere near the level he has shown for Liverpool in the past, and that level is above what we have now.
Lets hope our manager can get the best out of him again.
fingers crossed....

Or his ability to contribute to many of our goals....
The chosen blindness of some of our fans when it comes to Windass is almost amusing.
I think the views highlight a general inconsistency. I sometimes got the feeling that he's try too hard to be amazing, whereas Candeias would just do what needed to be done ie. run at defence & put balls into the box. Windass woure more often try to cut in & manufacture something - which more often than not failed.
For the record, I like Windass...I think he did bring a lot to the team, but needs to even out the peaks & troughs a wee bit.

3 at the back, with Alves running the show from the central position - let the "young guns" do more of the running out wide. That could work quite well.
The adjust the wide men according to requirement - more attacking for some of the "smaller" teams, more defensive for bigger ones.
On the flip side of that....Tav & Candeias had a very good understanding together last season - if that could be consistently replicated on the left, then it would REALLY open up attack options. The John/Windass pairing just wasn't as consistent or as effective as Tav/Candeias.

Yes, but as Frankie pointed out, his wife-beating occurred while he was with us. I was one of only a few that said we should have sacked him immediately for it. Absolutely zero tolerence for this type of stuff.
short term (1 season), with option for 2 or 3yr extension, depending on performance.

We're still hearing about Berwick 50 years later but I can't even remember the name of that Lithvakian pub team who hammered us at Ibrox in the much more recent past.
Hearts?

Ergo, the quandary is do you sign 24 players that can all be considered first XI meaning you have a more expensive squad and unhappy players? Or do you sign 16-18 quality players and make up the balance from youth. No matter, you still have to rotate players into the first XI and/or change your system to ensure everyone plays regularly.
My thinking...If you have a full compliment of players that can perform for the starting 11, then the decision to rotate players is much easier as you'r not dropping your No.1 option for an inferior replacement.

I get where you're coming from but it would still be the easiest draw geographically and otherwise and a chance to wipe off that stain.
I'm pretty sure that's what we all thought last year....Imagine IF they beat us again....

I think he's suffered from not playing regularly over the last year or so. You could see he was never quite fully fit or sharp during his loan and it's a pity we didn't try to play him more often.
Can you see that changing much if he is signed as a "squad player"??? I can't.
We shouldn't be signing players as Squad players, to simply fill the ranks. We need every single one of our 1st team squad to be able to offer a positive contribution to the team when they are required. That is the only way to encourage healthy competition for places.

I'll say one thing...the Gaffer looks as fit, if not fitter than some of the players - and he retired 18 moths ago!!!

Definitely the best option for the player....couldn't see him being any more that a rare bit-part player next season. I think that unless he has an absolutely outstanding season @ Fleetwood, he won't be back in a Rangers jersey.

Andy Muirhead (celtic slanted spfl blogger) is going to great lengths to point out the training gear that Rangers are wearing are off the shelf templates.
No doubt bespoke training gear will follow after the kit launch.... what is it with these guys obsessing about everything Rangers.
I very much doubt it. It's training gear, why should it matter whether it is off the shelf or bespoke.
I would suggest that VERY few clubs wear 100% bespoke training gear....whats the point??? Most punters want to buy the team strip, not the training top, therefore very little commercial return.
Even the Team tops will all be very similar. You tend to find that manufacturers come up with a design for the season, and that basic design is applied to all teams. I would suggest that Ceptic's strip does not vary from other teams playing in hooped shirts....

He might be right in saying they weren't physically fit enough, but for me it was more about their mental fitness. The team collapsed mentally when Celtic went down to ten men. There was no belief that we could win that match. The team then failed to recover mentally after that and we went on to record some poor results and performances.
I'd say the 2 go hand in hand....If you are starting to feel tired physically, that will have a massive effect mentally.
I've posted before about the Military physical training....they push soldiers beyond their physical breaking points in order to condition them mentally for the challenges that they may face in the future. While the mind is strong, the body will follow.

From the BDO document ... essentially says that the company (EBT holders) - according to the last court case's ruling - owed 38m in tax and a further 36m are "penalties and interest"? Methinks SDM offered them 10m in years gone by ... and you wonder how much they will actually get now.
From memory, it was always the penalties that were being contested (officially)....or was that on the wee case???

Holt could be useful, but I doubt he would get utilised very often....better for all to move on.

Watching the youtube reel.....not overly impressed & not convinced his style would suit the SPFL....
He appears to have a bit of pace, and favours an "over the top" pass which he can run onto & into some space. However, as we all know in the SPFL, teams like to sit deep, therefore there isn't generally a lot of room for players to run onto "over the top" passes or threaded through balls. He also appears to be rather ungainly, with not the cleanest 1st touch - relying on his pace to get it back under control & away from the opposing players.
If we can't get other teams to advance beyond their 18yd box, then he looks like he would be completely ineffective. We need someone who can battle & scrap in & around the box, in tight spaces. Someone that can win headers & bring other players into the action - coz that's the reality of Scottish football (against us).
