This might be a flaky link or hunch and I'm not really sure where I'm going with it, but anyway. When I first heard about these 2 guys bidding and I saw various links to East Kilbride my immediate reaction was - "I wonder if they have any links to the Kean's?". The Keans (Jim and Paul) own Kean Construction which is probably the biggest builder\developer in the area, as they built huge chunks of EK. Anyway these guys are Celtic supporters and Jim actually has a box at Breezeblock Boulevard. However they are also VERY close friends with Ally and Bomber (do you remember an old crocks game at Ibrox on a Sunday afternoon years ago, when Gough, Laudrup etc played against a Scottish crocks select I think it was? Well Ally actually arranged for Jim Kean to play the first half for the Scottish select [he played for Clyde years ago] as a gesture to a mate). I wasn't sure what any link would suggest so I ignored it last night.
Then I wake up this morning to find that Bomber is backing this bid and that he gave his talk from 'K' Park Training Academy in East Kilbride. What does the 'K' stand for? 'Kean'. It's the Kean's own complex that they built a couple of years ago. As I say I'm not sure whether this 'coincidence' means anything at all, but one thing is an absolute stick on - Ally's VERY good mates (the Kean's) will know McKenna etc VERY well indeed so Ally may well have some inside track on these developments.

thought this interesting:
We are desperate to have that dialogue with Walter Smith and his associates and I believe that process is already in place.
Only concern is that statement can range from "OK guys let's shake hands on the deal" to "On yer bike ya chancing bar steward".

I agree with the sentiments of the OP. I think Chris really presents himself very succinctly and calmly.

It would be interesting to know if the Jim McColl bid is conditional e.g. 3rd Division scenario. Didn't Green once state his was dependant on SPL football?

Would it not 'devalue' the Club if the SPL voted us out and strengthen WS's chances of buying? Is this decision possibly crucial? Would Green still be so keen to hold on in that scenario?

Does anyone else find it gutting that we have to go to these back stabbing bastards in the SPL to ask them if we can keep our place while they wring their grubby wee mits watching us beg with our future in their hands?
'Better to die (lose our SPL place in this context) standing than live on your knees'.
I would much rather turn the tables on them, by keeping OUR fate in OUR hands, and tell them we are happy to take the drop - just get it done!!
And give them a big NO SURRENDER on the way out. Let's remember those we passed on the way down because we will sure as fuck pass them ON THE WAY BACK UP AGAIN!

Bomber: Why I have to back bid

The Keans have also been criticised for large donations to the East Kilbride Labour Party, as have McKenna & Stewart. They are all involved in major property development in EK. Ally is best mates with the Keans and is also trustee on the board of their academy.

There is no doubt in my mind Ally has got to be well aware of this through his relationship (and John Brown's) with the Keans.
