  1. Josh.jpg.deff353e4a47f33b514eb116fc9d1fa5.jpg

It was a parent’s worst nightmare. What should have been a joyous occasion for Amanda and Mark Adair became a living nightmare, as a scan revealed a problem with their unborn baby. Further tests provided no succour, nor did the medical prognosis with doctors cautioning they did not expect their unborn son to survive pregnancy.

In a decision involving the exercise of both considerable faith and courage Mark and Amanda made the conscious choice to see the pregnancy through to conclusion rather than the medical alternative of termination. That courage and faith was rewarded in June 2011 with the arrival of baby Josh against all the medical odds.

Josh’s earlier scans had revealed he suffered from a rare and incurable disease called Jeune Syndrome which means he has short arms and legs, but more significantly, an unusually narrow ribcage which causes severe breathing problems.

The first month of Josh’s life was spent in an incubator and its fair to say his whole life has consisted of a series of challenges which he, with the help of loving and adoring parents and skilled medical practitioners at Great Ormond Street, has overcome time and time again to defy all the odds. Despite his tender years, Josh has already survived one heart attack brought on by infection as well as a series of difficult operations designed to expand the chest cage. Such operations involve the breaking of his ribs and replacing them with metal or latterly, titanium plates.

Despite his medical condition, Josh is a very happy boy bringing joy and inspiration to all who have the good fortune to meet him. He and his dad are keen Rangers supporters and Josh can often be seen adorned in his favourites colours.

Josh’s condition has now reached the stage where further medical assistance is no longer available in the UK but it is in the US. The estimated cost of this surgery is a staggering 100K but unsurprisingly that has not deterred either Mark or Amanda to get the best treatment available for Josh They have created a Just Donate page for Josh and have already reached 1/5th of their target. Josh’s page can be found here and is both an inspiring and heart wrenching read.

For those of you who have already given from the Rangers family, Mark and Amanda are eternally grateful. All I would ask of you is that you share Josh’s plight with someone who is unaware of it.

For those in our family who were unaware I would ask you to consider a donation via Josh’s Just giving page.

Sometimes our heroes in blue are not necessarily found on the park.

  2. You can only take a horse to water , every member was emailed so if they can't be bothered logging on what else can club1872 do , we really do have the most pathetically apathetic support in the world, it's always up to someone else with our fellow fans .

It is disappointing but nonetheless I think there are lessons to be learned from this bud. Hopefully next year will see an improvement in those voting figures.

  3. Bluedell do you agree though that if you limit your scope of share buying to future share issues , club 1872 might never reach 25plus 1 % , I really can't see what's the issue with buying from the open market

    RBR,

Ive only seen positive feedback from members regarding the latest acquisition (thats not to say there been no negative which I may have missed) funnily enough the most criticism seems to be coming form non members.

I take on boardd Bluedells comments however - particularly regarding the speed of process- there would be nothing to stop us polling members on this issue & I would be happy to take it forward.

  4. That is the blanket policy. Would it not have been better to ask members what their preference was with that lump of cash?

Surely it's easy to set up a poll on the website?

Bluedell - Im all for consultation with members but I honestly dont see the need to poll members for what you referred to as a "special resolution" to buy shares from a source which members had already approved.

  5. When did they approve that? Was there specific approval that this cash should be used to repay third parties rather than get used for the good of the club?

    I

Is it likely that those who don't have the best interests in the club are going to increase their shareholdings? Have they done so since the current board were in place?

I don't currently contribute and I'm not likely to change that knowing that any cash that I contribute will not be going to the club.

    BD

If you look at the terms of the original proposal there were 3 options identified for the acquisition of shares :-

The proposed split of funds following the launch of Club 1872 is as follows.

47.5% - to purchase shares in RIFC. This may be through share purchases from existing

shareholders, as part of future share offerings initiated by RIFC or through the provision of loans

    which are converted to equity.

Regarding your 2nd question - that is not known - though a no. of shares were traded several weeks ago and the identity of the buyer could not be ascertained. Furthermore as some have indicated on this thread already - increasing the shareholding increases the chances of passing certain resolutions at AGM.

  6. I disagree with the purchase. This is fans' cash that is NOT going to the club.

Has the policy of purchasing shares from third parties been approved by the members of C1872?

Members have approved such acquisitions from external sellers BD.

I believe there are pros and cons from this type of acquisition - as you correctly point out the money does not go directly into the club.

However a whole bunch of shares are now in the hands of people who have the best interests of the club at heart - rather than available to those who dont.

  7. I think there was more than sufficient warnings about Whyte by the likes of PM at the time. AJ too.

    Green perhaps not so much

There was Rab but nothing of substance and all a bit vague - ie AJ urged Gers fans to be "vigilant" - which in itself was something of a joke.

Certainly nothing of sufficient substance for the SFA to decline his application.

The information which HMRC held however - well thats an entirely different matter.

  8. This really should be enshrined in law. It's a matter of huge public interest.

Whyte should never have been legally able to buy us and green should be jailed for what he did to us.

Exactly GS - hence why despite Rab's concerns MP's will have to become involved to pass the necessary legislation.

If you remember way back when I concluded my investigation into HMRC I suggested the introduction of an information sharing protocol with the football authorities being a entitled disclosee.

It still beggars belief that in this day and age th SFA had no means of checking the validity of Whyte's application - whilst HMRC sat and said nothing as a disquaified director took charge at our club and embarked on a course action identical to that which saw him already in debt to HMRC for £3 million

who will all be on stupid money is money wasted

last season we were signing young lads in the mould of rossiter and windass

that bunch don't make sense and its money wasted - must be getting on for what a million a year each?? for 2/3 years?

    a howling waste of cash.

A considerable challenge to see any of those 4 fitting the previously suggested signing mantra of "adding value to the club"

  10. LOL ' police said they had not received any complaints surrounding the dolls'........

Is that for real? So that makes it ok then ? We're all plod too busy yesterday listening for TBB?

For a Police service supposedly exercising "zero tolerance" to this type of behaviour, they appear to have been considerably tolerant to the point of zero action rather than zero tolerance.

To suggest they need a complaint to act upon this sort of behaviour is an insult to our intelligence and is certainly not consistent with other arrests made courtesy of OBFA

  11. The thing is Craig, due to the nature of my job I couldn't go on to talk about sectarianism or racism. I'd probably face disciplinary action if I did.

If people are unaware of the whole cirecumstances surrounding this interview Christine - then they really are not qualified to comment accurately. Perhaps this tweet more than most sums up who didnt do their job adequately yesterday

  12. A question to those who might know, I ticked the box for my money to be used for buying shares. Will I be able to find out how many of the members/£s have been voted for in each catagory?

I dont think that will be difficult CB - I opted for the same option - someone on the WG should be able to provide that info
