That's not how a DoF model works, or it shouldn't. We have a budget every year for new players, which are based on the profiles the DoF has set. Managers then slot in, to take charge of what's there. The manager has an input but they will not be dictating which players they want. That's old-school. The old-school manager role is outdated--there's not many examples left, I don't think? Managers are more like (head) coaches now. For me, a prime candidate has to be able to work and improve what's there. If they have to bring in their own players to make a difference to a team, then they're not the right fit.

Diddums. Stop playing the victim. Managers leave--with their backroom staff--all the time. We'll be fine. Quite frankly, I think we'll be better off, because we've been p*sh this season. If we were still plodding along the way we've been going, we would have been in trouble after December - and everyone would be calling for SG and his backroom staff to go. If something comes out that paints it in a different light, I'll put my hands up. Until then, it's conspiracy nonsense. It seems to be coming from those that least wanted him to go. They've gone a full 180. I agree with the last point: I too don't care what happens to him now. I'm grateful for what he's done, and now he's moved on. It was always going to happen. My focus is on my club.

I don't understand the 'timing' criticism? Was he supposed to turn down Aston Villa because we were half way through a season? And then leave at the end of the season when there''s no job available? And then the 'he took all the backroom staff' criticism. Well, yes, that's how it works nowadays; managers have their team around them. It just sounds like jilted lover stuff to me.

I was kidding!

Not so well, I fancy.

What do you mean? How often is there a free manager on the market that understands Rangers, a multiple trophy winner as a player and a successful manager from the Scottish league? Perfect fit.

No. I think Wilson arrived when Koeman was there, so he was responsible for Koeman's replacement?

I didn't know where to put this, but it highlights how important Beale is... was to our style of play. It was released today, but I don't know if it's an older video just re-posted after his move?

Yes, which is supposedly another one of GvB's strengths - he brought in Wouters and a former Feyenoord player when he took charge there.
-
Sorry...

I'm concerned about GvB's tactical nous; apparently it's not great according to Dutch fans? Hopefully he's learnt something from his time with Pep. He is supposedly a good man-manager, though. However, I rank tactical nous about that.

@ian1964, mate--You're acting like a Tim.

Yes, you are right with regards to morale etc.; it's inevitable. I suppose my point was more in terms of the type of player we have, positionally and style-wise. A new manager should be able to slot in and use them. So, I don't necessarily think a new manager will need to bring in someone "he can trust". If a new manager wanted to make wholesale changes like that, then he's not the right option.

We'll need to agree to disagree. I just don't see what Lampard brings. He's not had any success at all. For the record, I was against Gerrard too, for the same reason.
-
Apparently GvB played with wingers at Feyenoord in a 4-3-3, which worries me - we have one winger!
-
They weren't really a basket case at all, it was Lampard, IMO: Tuchel has come in and transformed them with the same squad Lampard had.
-
That's not how it should work with a DoF model. Our players should be fixed, based on profile and any new manager should be picked to work with them. So the manager position should be able to slot in and out, so there's no need for any 'rebuilds' every time a manager leaves.
-
I agree, but Lampard is still in nappies and shat himself at Chelsea.
-
Wouters was GVB's assistant at Feyenoord.
-
I don't see Tavernier going. I wouldn't be opposed to it, though. It's a big loss, but would allow us to play Patterson.
-
Aye-or Ally, or Warnock, or Steve Clarke, or Giggsy, or Neil Lennon... a safe pair 'o hawns. Get the f*ck out!
-
Right--Ross Wilson, mate, you're up! Go!
