  1. Never knew that, that's just wrong on so many levels. Never revised my opinion of someone so quickly before
  2. I remember being a bit annoyed at him back then as I just wanted to get on with things but he proved to be right to smell a rat. Most people, former players etc, with a reason to be fond of Rangers have said nothing throughout all this. Fair play to Brown for having the bottle to speak his mind.
  3. Good to see us looking if true. Need a good centre half
  4. The new board are superb in my eyes for saving us from becoming part of Sport's Direct 'stable' of football clubs. Because of the financials we would have been the number 2 club and a businessman like Ashley could not have resisted transferring goods between the clubs. Seeing Rangers in that sort of relationship with any club would have destroyed it for me. The rest of what he does, turns stadiums into a circus for little fee, poor retail deals, wankers in charge who have no respect for the support, club being indebted again, only enough investment to maintain our interest which would have been less than we have always achieved under our own steam. The club would have been a poor shadow of itself under Ashley. No doubt Ashley will be a thorn in our side for a while with these contracts but hopefully King and the others know what their doing with him. Certainly seems that way with their timely intervention. My only issue with them is investment going forward. All the talk has been 15-20 million over 3 years since they got in. I knew it would come down, as its always the same with our lot, but that's pretty poor considering some of the things stated earlier. But hopefully they'll surprise me But overall its great to have the club back and dodging the Ashley bullet. I'd try and get the club away from the guy completely in time but at least contracts will now be done in the interest of Rangers. I doubt there can be many more of these shady deals left. Too many as things stand.
  5. There will still be a share issue mate. I asked earlier in the thread
  6. I think we dodged a long term bullet in disposing of the last board but your right about this kind of crap. We deserve better than to be left to mull over this sort of stuff again. Too long in the tooth not to see these gaps. I hope they come out with something solid soon because the last thing we need is doubts and we all knew this mess would take some time to sort out. Just looks to me like they're not willing to put enough on the line to convince the nomad to see beyond the accounts and past mismanagement. I wasn't expecting much but its disappointing if they have failed this initial challenge due to finance after all the previous talk.
  7. Easdale insisted he had been "quite excited" by the promises made by King's group So glad to see the back of this puppet
  8. Peterhead game haha Talk about giving a boy a chance.
  9. I've backed King and the new board all the way and still do. In fact I was originally only interested in this thread because I just wanted to know if a share issue could still be done. But I've seen this too many times now not to recognize when a director is not giving us the full story. The advantages of the listing are mostly irrelevant to me so long as investment can still be given to the club. But surely a good plan going forward and funding package would have convinced a nomad to accept us. Don't they just want to get paid like everyone else and to know you'll fulfill your end of the agreement. Maybe be wrong but all this old board and financial mess stuff isn't fully convincing here as I've read the accounts were not that bad all things considering. I'm guessing if they could not convince a nomad then it must be to do with guaranteeing short term funding. All the recent talk has been about funding over 3 years instead of the front loaded version we heard earlier. I still believe the club will be run much better in the long term but this is exactly the sort of thing the new board could have done without. I know I've given my two bobs worth but its the kind of issue that lends itself to speculation as no doubt will continue to be the case. The club would do well to come out with some concrete proposals so we can move on from this. Just looks to me at the moment like its going to be another cheap deal, with us fans footing the bill. No point us all getting into spats on here in defending the new board, we've been through too much of this crap not to be able to expect better answers from directors now.
  10. Too young to see him play but two trebles, cup winners cup, nearly 800 games for Rangers. That's as good as it gets, well done to the support and nice to see the club looking after his family for the day.
  11. I see what you mean. Remember reading an article about Rangers supporters helping Hamburg with supporter group structure in the 70s as well, lol. Maybe there's a case for saying we lacked unity and so did not respond as well as possible. I'm not sure though as I think our groups were probably involved at some level with the wealthy bears and the fighting fund was a good idea. We rarely looked like we had no buyer so a complete fan backed takeover probably never occurred to most of us. Just the difference in scale with our club compared to Hearts. I was more disappointed in the bids from wealthy bears which if reports were accurate included one that involved ticketus and future European income. But the administration was dodgy and Green was maybe being kept in the loop so his bid always won. I'm fully supportive of the new board but someone should have said to Murray they had concerns about his spending. From a personal point of view I remember looking at a bench lined with guys like Tugay and Kanchelskis and thinking this much be costing a fortune but more being annoyed at the waste. Murray was so credible though that I couldn't have imagined this level of damage being done. I knew we would downsize because of the debt but thought our future would be safe. I imagine inside Ibrox people were probably reluctant to question such a successful person. They did come out against whyte and we should probably have done something then but the media gave him the green light. I wouldn't be surprised if that's why the weasel moved into a castle. I think being just football fans, and supporters of a club that had all seemed to have good people at the helm made us unaware how bad things could be. I think your right about how loyal we stay but you probably need a balance. If everyone boycotted then the damage might have been much worse. Hopefully something decent can come of all this though in terms of the support and club. Board representation and some type of club constitution with limits on club debts, % of income to youth and scouting, and that type of thing. I don't really know all the politics with different groups and egos, but I'd hope they'd manage to put the club first when it came to serious business. I've always thought most of it was internet related as I'd have remembered hearing a bear sticking up for the Easdales or Ashley at games. Even online only that rent a blog Mcmurdo and a few cranks on other forums backed the old board.
  12. I doubt we'll be able to get out of much of it either. Seems anything is allowed when it comes to business, especially involving us. Hard to see such blatant deals being given away but never heard of screen rental. What disgusting prick signed that one mate? Biggest piss take yet.
  13. Just read this thread again and think I owe the op a wee apology. Did not mean to compare your view to the papers and the demented. In fact think I must have had a wee turn as my post does not even really relate to yours, lol Mind all the glorious Hearts stuff was irritating me at the time right enough but can't see what we could have done differently. The debts and sale were all down to an owner who had complete control. Maybe if he wasn't as credible we would have been more vocal but doubt it would have made a massive difference. A boycott is our only real weapon and whyte wouldn't have let that put him off. Hopefully the fan involvement at boardroom level will mean this can't happen again. The rest has been down to mismanagement and lack of planning which has been abysmal in comparison to Hearts but that's because we were taken over by a bunch of greedy clowns. But we've managed to remove them now so here's hoping.
  14. Can someone who knows about this sort of stuff tell me for sure. Does not being listed mean you can't have a share issue? I know how daft it sounds but if you don't know then you don't lol
  15. What football fan wouldn't, don't beat yourself up mate lol Hold on just seen 20 points ahead, with McCoist? You must be a regular lottery winner
