VAR sounds good in theory. It should identify offsides, penalties and red cards that the referee has missed. It should also stop diving in the box, as any penalty award is subject to VAR and the dive will be spotted.  However, the problem at the moment is that it can take ages for a VAR decision to be made. This completely changes the nature of the game. While fans will be informed via screens what is being considered, the hold up of play and the uncertainty is an unwelcomed departure from what we had.

As VAR seems to be here to stay, I would like to see a maximum period during which the incident is being considered. It’s my view that if it is so doubtful that it takes minutes to view the incident and come to a decision, it’s not cut and dry that the ref’s decision was wrong.  If the decision was wrong it should be obvious, so if a decision cannot be made in 10-15 seconds then the ref’s decision stands.

Anyone know when the ticket office will be open on the day of the match to collect tickets?

The story I heard was that in the 1967 Wembley game, Law was screaming to get the ball up to him as he wanted to crush England with lots of goals. Baxter had other plans. His way of crushing the opposition was to showboat and humiliate them that way. Baxter would also wind up Alan Ball by asking him is he was jimmy Clitheroe's dad.

You can foresee the Celtic response to this.

As referees are bias in favour of Rangers, only when an independent observer oversees can this wrong be righted. It follows that Celtic, being harshly treated by referees, will not suffer from any independent overseer.

Laughable, but I would not be surprised.

I understand why Celtic are making these statements - as a sop to their fans and as a means to deflect from the poor performance of the team. If they fail to make any significant signings this January, we can expect some more salvoes to keep the fans happy and again deflect from their inaction.

If all this happens when they lose a game to us, what can we expect if they lose the league to us?

I agree that it was not a stamp. Had it been, Ralston would not have got up so quickly. He'd have been rolling on the ground, the game held up for 5 minutes while a stooshie ensued.

Rangers seem happy that we are playing first, understandably in view of the playing surface.

Has anyone heard why the Police advised that our game was played first? Was it that it's expected that Aberdeen fans would go home after the game and not hang about Glasgow (after all they will have had an early start )  or was it that they wanted our fans reasonably sober ?

Black was also the forerunner to the current tradition of booing Rangers players when they play for Scotland. In our first year in the lower leagues, he was called up to the Scotland squad and was booed when he came on as a substitute in a friendly. You could say he was a trailblazer.

As someone who has lived in Yorkshire for many years, I can tell you that we don't get near Yorkshire folk for tight fistedness.  Another thing about Yorkshiremen - You can always tell a Yorkshire man, but you can't tell him much?
