I've been waiting for a game in which everything finally slots into place in front of goal and we score a barrowload. I hope it's tonight.

I think that's the first time I've heard John Souttar speak at length. Articulate, controlled and impressive. Comes across as a bedrock character.

It's mainstream for sports, I suppose.
You're probably right, I couldn't really escape the wall to wall AFCON coverage and promotion we were subjected to, here in Scotland. It was a veritable deluge, a tsunami, a cacophony.
Everywhere I went, all I saw and heard were Victor Osimhen and vuvuzelas.
There you are then. Told you. 😉

It's an extraordinary fiction to extrapolate Lammers' performances in Holland to what he might do in a Rangers shirt .... given that we've just spent months seeing with our own eyes how little he actually achieved in a Rangers team. Seeing is believing.

Not quite the same as the Euros or WC, which are both shown continuously on mainstream channels.
I think saying it got the same 'promotion and coverage' as either of those tournaments is quite ridiculous.
Isn't Sky Sports "mainstream" in your world then? Because I think it's where most people go for football coverage.

Did it? Only a handful of games were on freeview channels.
Seriously? How many people still depend on free to air TV? The fact is every AFCON game was televised live (I think).

International football is almost always soporific and the little I saw of this tournament was well towards the comatose end of the spectrum. How it got the same promotion and coverage as the Euros or the World Cup is questionable. What I saw was rubbish, maybe I was just unlucky.

John Souttar for me.

Raskin has a lot to do to convince me he will do a good job in our midfield. Goldson, Tav and Wright were pretty poor. Lundstram, Ridvan and Cantwell improved us when they came on but overall a disappointing game to watch. Souttar MoM for me. Collum is still a rat but he shied away from giving Silva a second yellow which would have been deserved.
I have to agree about John Souttar being MOTM. I just wonder if we'll ever see him play on the right side of a centre back pairing where he is more naturally suited. Souttar and Balogun holds some appeal.

Neither of them played very well tonight.
Sorry, couldn't resist throwing some bait in the water. You never disappoint 😂

Not to labour a point but I thought Yilmaz was a clear improvement when he came on for Barisic.
I was slightly surprised how comfortable Ryan Jack looked for his 70 minutes. It would be interesting to see his passing stats compared with Raskin.
Best defender on the field was Souttar for sure.

Bloody inconvenient time to play a football match, like being back in the 1990s.

All very well but, I will wait for both Compo and Scott7's personal recollections of the match.

Look to your left. I'll give you a wave from an empty Main Stand.

Seems to me the SPFL is a perfect reflection of wider Scottish society where elected representatives at all levels and almost all significant national institutions are fundamentally corrupt, self-serving and utterly useless. In that respect, Mr Doncaster is a natural choice for the role.

The last thing we need is yet another way for referees to fuck up football.

Useful idiots and both prepared to do the bidding for others.
Not to mention the absurdly high salaries. It’s the SNP sporting wing.

I would like to see 2 more of Beale's signings go, Dowell and Dessers (ducks behind the couch). I don't think we should be running a cottage hospital for serially injured players any longer. I like Dowelll and think he could do a job for us but I am done with it. There are aspects to Dessers play that I like but he doesn't impact the game enough and misses too many really good chances.
Sounds good to me but I think we'll have to make do with what we've got meantime.

Went with Cantwell for the goal but could easily have been Lundstrum.
Looks like I'll be way in the minority here, I thought Macausland was awful baring maybe a few touches. I was surprised he wasn't the first off. Also though Matondo started great, that was whn he was willing to go past the defender instead of cutting back in, then poor.
Though Souter, Lawrence and Dessrs had good games too.
Being in the minority doesn’t make you wrong. I keep waiting for MacCausland to catch fire, which I expect him to eventually. At the moment he’s far too reluctant to take on his defender on the outside and too many of his crosses have no end product. Sure he shows promise but by and large that’s all.

We have played well but we continue to be frustratingly toothless in front of goal.
