1. Folks, We're looking for some provisional names and numbers for the Gersnet Prediction League ahead of the start of the new season. The winner at the end of the season will get the sought after 'GPL Champion' custom forum rank won by Whosthedado last season and a wee prize as well. So, if you fancy your chances at predicting the results of our games in the SPFL Championship and our games in Cup competitions, then please put your name down by posting "I'm in" (or something like that) on the thread here. Cheers! PS - The exact competition format and rules will be announced within the next week to 10 ten days, but might well follow follow the excellent system put in place and run by Bluebear54 last season.
2. Freezing temperatures, icy conditions and a fair chance of snow on Saturday morning in Cowdenbeath. Anyone fancy running a book on whether or not the game gets postponed?
3. Folks, I'm announcing this in the Rangers Chat section here so that we can get as many people playing as possible. There will be a wee prize (TBA) for the winner, so get signed up before June 12 and take part! I'll list (and update) the league players here: Annan Bear BEARGER Bluebear54 blueflag compo craig globespanscott Gribz Juan Little General onevision PapaBear Pete Rangersitis rbr Ser Barristan Selmy shorerdbear steve1872 Super Cooper Tannochsidebear TheTinMan99 Thinker Time4_Change Zappa The competition RULES are explained here - http://www.predicttheworldcup.com/site/help

7. Seeing John Terrys face was brilliant at 3-3. Glad to see Chelsea being shown up. On the BBC predictor i had them 11 points behind man utd by now and my mate said i was nuts...not too far off!

9. Thought we should have a open thread for chat about the WC. Opinions on who will win it / betting etc. Im backing the Dutch, I think they are as strong as anyone going forward. It will once again be whether the squad can get on with each other. Would like to see Argentina win it though, how good would that be for Maradona! I think England have a genuine chance and they have a decent draw on paper. Working it out on the predictor they will have the runners up from Germany's group (asuming Germany win the group) which they should win and then it could be France in the Quarters. Portugal are an interesting bet at 22/1 as are Germany at 16/1.
10. With a week to go until the big day, we have, in conjunction with our friends at Planet Soccer T-Shirts, organised our World Cup Predictor League (utilising software from FIFA.com) where the top 3 people placed at the end of the competition can each win a t-shirt of their choice*. To be in with a chance of winning one of these excellent items, please sign-up to our competition using the following simple procedure: 1. Join the Gersnet Predictor League by going to the FIFA site here - http://en.castrol.predictor.fifa.com/M/home.mc and registering. 2. In the 'Join a Private League' section enter the code 67416-3283 3. When you enter your 'screen name', enter it as 'GN_xxxxx' (with the x's being your Gersnet username). 4. Remember to make your predictions! Established in London in February 2009, Planet Soccer has fast become a leading on-line retail store specialising in stylish football inspired clothing and merchandise. Our apparel ranges provide crossover football fashion merchandise for style conscious football fans - including Rangers specific merchandise. Through our own Planet Soccer label and the sourcing of the latest must have football clothing brands, we appeal to the global community of football fans as well as mainstream high street fashion and lifestyle consumers. Our own label range has been designed in-house for football fans who follow UK and European teams. If you automatically link football shirts with "wearing your team's colours" on match days, it's time for a re-think. With an impressive range of clothing you can now purchase stylish football merchandise that can be worn anywhere long after the final whistle. New lines will appear on the site regularly, so keep checking in to uncover the latest range for your favourite footballer, club or international teams. * Unfortunately, entries without a valid Gersnet user-name won't be considered and admin decision is final. The winners can select any t-shirt from the Planet Soccer online store up to the value of £15. Please contact us if you have any questions! Of course, all entries will be in with a chance of winning the fantastic FIFA prizes as well. For those that haven't noticed what the official FIFA prizes for the predictor are, here's a rundown - . http://www.fifa.com/games/worldcuppredictor/prizes.html :spl:
11. After all the excitement of Rangers winning the title for the 53rd time, many of us have enjoyed each week's twists and turns by way of playing in the Gersnet BBC Predictor League. The final standings are as shown here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/cgi-perl/scotland/sportscotland/predictor/scotland.pl?season=SPL20092010&action=minileague&subaction=view&id=8592&modifier=M01&x=24&y=10 Top 5 Scozzese 166 petegers 164 ak5679 162 Gersnet_Bluedell 161 Gersnet_ian1964 157 Well done to our winner 'Scozzese' who can claim their prize (the new Rangers home or away shirt) by pm-ing our kind prize donator Craig with their Predictor user details. 19. Friday thread to remind bears to get their predictions in. I'm having a dreadful run just now, just cant get any 3 pointers at all. Perhaps I shouldn't take Timmy to lose 4-0 every week!!
20. In amongst protests and meltdowns and all that other unimportant stuff, please remember there is a league game between Motherwell and Hamilton that is included in the predictor. The upcoming midweek full programme of games is also available, with our match at Fir Park and timmy trying to get revenge on Hearts at the Piggery for their league cup defeat amongst the matches.
21. It's that Friday feeling again. Dont forget your predictions guys for the weekend. They are also letting you put in revised predictions for the two games that were postponed over Christmas and are being played next midweek, involving timmy at Killie and another game. I'm doing rotten this last few weeks, so hopefully I can get a couple right tomorrow, including a 4-0 win for the Champions-elect (or is that too soon?)
22. Dont forget there are midweek league games on tonight. I forgot about last night's game but I dont think I would have went for a 0-0 draw anyway. I went for a 2-2 draw at the piggery and a comfy 3-0 win for the Champions. Can't really back up either prediction with hard evidence but it would make me happy if I was right!!
