How it worked:

Ok, here is what I can share.....

Idea was born of a simple discussion, Helicopter Sunday. The recollection of the noise, the atmosphere, the emotion of what happened as those Motherwell goals were going in. We couldn't begin to imagine the same thing in reverse - to think about them feeling the way we did that day - unimaginable.....or was it ?

Maybe we could create this emotion - with a nice twist - Operation Tango was born.

How do we do it -

We wanted a concentrated 'surprise' effort, so no mass instruction on the open forum.

Original plan was to send 2 texts, 1 on 5 mins and 1 on 15 mins....

Each person involved had to have 2 Timmy mates at the game.

On 5 mins, the 1st person was to be sent the text,

On 15 mins the 2nd person was to be sent the text.

Anyway, to cut a long story short,

Concensus of opinion was that 5 mins was far far too early, people arriving late, people not settled into the game yet. There was also a thought that we may provide a positive effect for Celtic - ie spur them on when we were maybe on the back foot (and we didn't want that).

So with this in mind, we decided, lets do it in such a way as that if it spurns them on - it should make no difference....Rangers had to be in the lead for Tango to kick in.

News will reach the piggery naturally if we scored and went in front (massive massive low on their part), what better than to let them digest this low and let it fester for a little while before we sent our false high.

Decision was to send the texts no matter what to both Timmy1 and Timmy2, 15 mins after Rangers took any lead.

Text in itself was to be short and sweet:

Dundee Utd - Goal! (Weir sent off)

The resultant Timmy rabble we would like to think was down to the series of texts arriving at their destination - It was a bit like Russian Roulette, we all fire the gun, some will simply go click bit hopefully a few go BANG !

We will never know for sure, but if it wasn't us, something got them excited. I think we can live with the thought that it was maybe just us

“Operation Tango”: How Rangers fans fooled Celtic supporters on the final day of the season

Rangers fans will no doubt have been enjoying this clip for a couple of days now, but for everyone else it’s time to learn about “Operation Tango.”

Midway through the first half on the final day of the SPL season, a massive roar bellowed out from the Celtic fans as news spread like wildfire around Parkhead that Dundee United had equalised against Rangers. Obviously such rumours were later discovered to be pure fabrications, nevertheless for several seconds the whole of Celtic Park seemed convinced the rumours were true.

According to the Rangers’ forums, “Operation Tango,” as it is now known as, was the result of a mass texting by a group of Rangers supporters to their Celtic supporting friends, spreading the lies that conned the Celts into believe their team was in the box seat in the title race

A post from one of the youtube video's:

im from Mexico, i found this on some spanish news, i liked it, thats what Football is: PASSION, FUN, HUMILATE THE RIVAL, Its a Game, and this Tango was a good example.
