ian1964 10,720
KRIS BOYD has been given a staggering £50,000-A-WEEK lure to quit Rangers and accept a life-changing move to TURKEY. SunSport can reveal that TWO Super League clubs have expressed a shock interest in the prolific striker, who turns 26 today. Rival outfits Trabzonspor and Kayserspor are prepared to pay a £1.5m transfer fee for the hitman. Boyd, who hit 31 goals last season, would earn that £50,000-a-week - four time his current wages - if either deal went through. The amazing figures, confirmed to us by sources close to the deal, came to light last night with Rangers chiefs aware of the Turkish interest. Gers are in desperate need of funds and are ready to cash in on the striker, who is in the final year of his contract and hasn't been offered an extension, though they could hold out for £2m. Boyd wants to stay. He rejected a deal to sign for Birmingham last season. But the cash on offer could tempt him to reconsider. http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/2593004/Turks-set-to-offer-Boydy-50k-a-week.html
craig 5,199
50k a week. He would be crazy not to accept it, if true. 2 mill though is a shocking transfer fee. That is what we get for not having players tied up on longer contracts.

Can't win on length of contracts though. More than one player has done JACK for the club (every club actually) by running down his contract which was too long in the first place.
Super_Ally 0
£500k for Adam £2mil for Boyd. Bain will be chuffed. Really earning his £500k a year. Sack him now and over the next 5 years we could recoup those fees from his wages saved and keep a stronger squad.

We managed to negotiate (what was it, £3.5m?) from Birmingham only six months or so ago. They know the value KB has in the market. If (IF) KB goes for that kind of money then there can be no bigger sign that things are 100% fooked at RFC.

The latter being particularly disturbing.
craig 5,199
Can't win on length of contracts though. More than one player has done JACK for the club (every club actually) by running down his contract which was too long in the first place. This isnt true B_S. The club, if they wanted to retain players would/should be offering them new contracts (even if on reduced or same terms) long before they enter the final year of the contract. The club have an obligation.... to the club itself, to get players tied into longer contracts (or at least players who have something to offer - which KB does). Yes, more than one player has done Jack but could we honestly put KB in that position ? This is a guy who has already turned down a pay rise to stay with the club he supports. It really does anger me that we have a player who, 6 months ago, was worth almost 4 mill and because of the incompetence of our custodian and his sidekick is now worth less than half that. That said.... this situation plays into the story S_A posted the other day about the bank running the show and that no player is being offered a new contract. Even having said that, if the bank are refusing to offer anyone a new contract then they too are culpable. Everyone knows that a player in his final year of contract is worth less than at any other point in time. Boyd on the same wages as he is presently is going to retain his value at the 4 mill mark. Not offering him a new contract has immediately cut his value in half. Now, if he is on, say, 10k a week, that 2 mill reduction in value is 4 YEARS worth of his wages. At this rate we won't have enough 1st team squad members to field a team.
Big Spliff 0
This isnt true B_S. I know exactly what you mean mate. The KB situation is weird though - WS refused to play him regularly (and still will by the looks of things) and generally speakeing, RFC wanted shot of him in January to balance the books. Personally, I'm a Boyd fan (if he does all he can). I cannot for the life of me imagine where his goals will come from if he goes - and these goals mean points imo. But it basically comes down to whether you agree that he's worth keeping or not. If you are in the club's camp, then clearly he's expendable, especially in desperate times -which is probably and ultimately why he's not got a new deal.
