1.5m is gonna even touch the debt we have. so why entertain that

rangers should put his value as high as possible say 6-8m so no -one touches him in this window.

then we can hopefully agree a contract and if we want to sell him, we can in the summer for a lot more than 1.5m

or the cynic in me thinks boyds form has something to do with having 6months on his contract left. remember loverpants playing extremly well knowing his contract was up and sum extents with beasley aswell world cup comming up and contract expiring making him play well.

one thing we need this boyd situation sorted ASAP

I cant really agree with the comparison between Lovenkrands and Boyd.

Lovenkrands so obviously hit a rich vein of form when entering the last 6 months of his contract. Boyd, on the other hand, has scored goals aplenty throughout his career and, for me at least, the reason why his overall play has improved is because he sees he needs to provide more to the team than just goals. That was the reason he didnt play in the "big" games previously and he was also told by the management team he had to improve his overall play.

Seems to me that Boyd simply wants to be a better player, play in the big games and score goals.

He could have went to Brum and got a sizeable signing-on fee as well as significantly improved wages last January - he decided to stay put at Rangers, on the same wages. That is a different type of player to me than lovenkrands.

He is, if we're lucky, a 4M striker at tops. If we get offered anything in that region we'll accept it. And we did in January.

.

I have to disagree Danny. If we sign him up on a new 2 or 3 year contract, I believe he'd be worth more than £4m. Burnley paid £3m for Steven Fletcher 6 months ago & Boyd is certainly worth considerably more than Fletcher in striker terms. Just because the club accepted under £4m for Boyd a year ago, doesn't mean they'd do so again & FWIW, had the Brum deal been completed, I think most managers in the EPL would have considered Eck's purchase as somewhat of a bargain.

.

So why did you ask if we were gonna have a bet again ya wind up merchant?

Simply because....... of this...... :fish:

.

Bugger, here was me thinking I was gonna win a tenner off you again at the beginning of Feb' & receive it next Xmas.

I have to say Fletcher's stats this season (9 goals in all competitions) are absolutely excellent for a young player in his debut season in the biggest league in the world for a 'relatively' struggling side.

What makes you so sure he's clearly inferior to Boyd and therefore worth less? This is not me dissing Boyd, but Fletcher is proving himself, while Boyd is yet to. Let's compare absolute apples with applies here.

Can't agree there - it's conjecture and you know it. You have no idea how Boyd is viewed by Premiership managers, and as much as we Rangers fans rate him, the fact that he's only been linked to one EPL team who wanted him while they were a championship side suggests you're speaking innaccurately on their behalves.

What about the interest attributed to Villa ?

Way I heard it the deal fell through because of his wage demands. The PL comparison I think is unfair on both players - I think PL was a talented striker who finally got played as one, and that drew in fans' ire claiming he was doing it for a contract. Boyd's current superb form also comes at a similar time, the fact being that he's in the form of his life.

I don't think he's enigneering a move away, but I think any footballer who is near the end of their deal and whose livelihoods and futures depend on employment would only naturally put in even harder work when it's more pertinent to do so.

It's like being in the shop window at a world cup - it's your living, and you're going to do the best you can with that exposure to get as good a deal from whoever as you can.

Problem is most fans can only see the jersey the player is playing in and not the reality of the footballer and their own needs and wants.
