Brown Old Firm red card to stand

Recommended Posts

Was just about to post this. The bheasts will be foaming at the mouth over it. He's getting a total of 3 match ban because of it as well. :D

Celtic have lost their appeal against Scott Brown's dismissal during the Old Firm derby defeat on Sunday.

Referee Dougie McDonald has backed his original decision to send off the Scotland midfielder following a clash with Kyle Lafferty during Celtic's 1-0 defeat at Ibrox. Brown will now miss a total of three matches through suspension, including Sunday's trip to Falkirk.

With the red card adding 12 points to Brown's disciplinary record, the Celtic skipper will also miss two additional games following his immediate automatic one-match ban.

Brown, who netted the only goal in Scotland's friendly win over the Czech Republic, will sit out SPL games against St Johnstone at Parkhead and St Mirren in Paisley later this month.

A Scottish Football Association statement read: ''In accordance with the provisions for claims of wrongful dismissal, the referee, Dougie McDonald, was requested to review the circumstances of Scott Brown's sending off against Rangers. The referee has indicated that he is content with his decision.''

The picture above shows it all. It's violent conduct pure and simple. Just because he missed Kyle's head doesn't make the intent any better.

The answer to Celtic is if you don't like the referees' decisions then play by the rules and above all start playing with a wee bit of sportsmanship...

From Teh Huddleboard:

The gearing up of the latest round of spats between Celtic and the SFA refereeing contingent now seems to be heading towards legal recourse.

It seems Celtic have for some time ( last 2 years ) been compiling evidence to challenge the SFA on the grounds of "losses arising from professional negligence & mismanagement and failure of duty of care "

This evidence is said to be substantial and includes all correspondence to and from SFA on referee'ing matters, the disciplinary and review panel documnetation, video footage of incidents, and minutes of meeting between Celtic and SFA.

Seems someone from Channel 67 has been working full time on pulling all the video evidence together, and the mistakes are also categorised, not only by game, but by individual referee.

Whether celtic will have to take the SFA to court still remains to be seen, but this level of effort is unprecedented.

Behind the scenes it is thought that Reid is gunning for Peat / Dallas and a few referees et all, and has already taken advice on the legal implications from some of the law lords he is acquainted with.

The precedent for legal action has already been set in 1967 when St Johnstone were given the go ahead to legally challenge the SFA. This ruling means that the SFA are not above the law, much as they, UEFA, and FIFA would like you to think.

Today will see another chapter evolve.

I bet they don't use anything from the 2007/8 season.

There's a suprise. Referee doesn't overturn a red card for a player who tried to headbutt an opponent. I am shocked. I was convinced the official would change his mind once he saw that he clearly got the decision right first time around.
