Game re-arranged...

Two games postponed in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday, November 28 because of bad weather have been rearranged. Motherwell's home game with Hearts and Rangers' trip to face Dundee United will both be played before Christmas and will both be shown live on television.

Motherwell and Hearts will be in action first, playing on Tuesday, December 14. The game, which will be shown live on Sky, will have a 7.45pm kick off.

A week later, Dundee United will host Rangers on Tuesday, December 21. Kick-off will again be at 7.45pm, with ESPN showing the fixture.

Both games were previously to be refereed by foreign officials, with the fixtures falling on a weekend Scottish referees refused to honour appointments. As it was, four SPL games went ahead with refs from Luxembourg, Malta and Israel taking charge.

The entire SPL card, together with 14 of 15 games in the SFL, have been postponed this weekend because of the continued severe wintry conditions. New dates for all of the postponed matches are yet to be announced.

Rearranged SPL dates: Motherwell v Hearts (Tuesday, December 14); Dundee United v Rangers (Tuesday, December 21).

RAGING Rangers fans have slammed the SPL’s decision to reschedule their game against Dundee United at Tannadice for the Tuesday night before Christmas.

Ibrox fans’ chiefs have branded the switch “ludicrous” and warned that United will be hit in the pocket as many supporters will refuse to make the trek to Tayside.

It is understood the SPL wanted the fixture to be played on Tuesday, December 14 but Dundee already had a First Division match against Cowdenbeath pencilled in for that date along the road at Dens Park.

And Europa League action the following night meant UEFA wouldn’tlet the United-Rangers clash, which is being shown live on ESPN, be beamed in direct competition.

That left December 21 as the next free midweek date but Rangers Assembly spokesman Andy Kerr said: "It’s completely unreasonable.

“My enquiries had led me to believe there would probably be a fixture on either the 14th or the 15th, which would not have been ideal but would have been palatable. But to schedule a game four days before Christmas is ludicrous.

“We have a game on Boxing Day, another one on the 29th, then the Old Firm and a rescheduled cup game against Kilmarnock on the following Monday night. We are being messed about.

“I would never advocate getting special treatment but surely some consideration must be given to clubs who are taking thousands of fans on the road to away games. Does the SPL really believe it is reasonable to have huge numbers on that road on a night just before Christmas?

“Having said that, there will be a big drop-off in the numbers of our fans.

“A lot of people with tickets for the original game will be looking for refunds because they can’t get to this game so close to Christmas. United will lose out financially.”

Rangers made no comment on the issue but it is believed they wanted the game played a week earlier.

United chairman Stephen Thompson said: “It’s not ideal. I can fully understand the Rangers fans’ annoyance at the date. Nobody knows what the roads are going to be like then and, of course, it’s an expensive time of the year.”

The SPL have also announced the Motherwell-Hearts game - originally meant to have been played on November 29 - will take place on Tuesday, December 14.

Very simple, move the Dundee match to the wednesday, the 15th, and let us play on the Tuesday.

It seems we are getting into similar territory to 2007-08 where backlogs of games are being crammed in at unreasonable times as Timmy's only chance of preventing us winning the title.

5 games in 15 days over the Christmas period, including 3 tough away games and an OF game, is a big ask of an already stretched squad. I hope we use it as extra motivation to ensure we come through it with 2 fingers sticking straight up at them. Bring it on.

The run up to the OF game was already more difficult for us with 2 away games that week compared to Celtic's 2 home games against the same teams. Now it's just unbelievable. If we manage to take all 15 points from those 5 games we'll be in a great position.

It's a conspiracy don't you know:boogie:
