From The Daily Mail

Former Birmingham flop Christian Benitez is heading back to British football after his Mexican club Santos Laguna thrashed out a deal with Celtic.

The 24-year old showed flashes of brilliance, after joining Birmingham on a season-long loan 18 months ago, but was allowed to return to Santos after scoring just three times in 30 appearances.

He signed a new contract with the Primera Division club and has captured the attention of Parkhead scouts, with his form so far this season.

A 16-goal haul has made him one of the Mexican Leagues outstanding performers and led to Celtic officials opening talks over a move back to Britain.

Sportsmail understands an agreement has now been reached and that the £5million-rated Ecuador forward will be arriving in Glasgow either initially on loan, or more likely at the end of the season.

Benitez has an enviable scoring record of a goal every other game for Santos Laguna and Ecuador and is eager to prove himself in British football, at the second attempt.

How long has "Sammy" been with them? How much damage has he done us? Don't think there is too much to worry about in this bit of news>

In the last OF game, he's the reason we lost - well other than our own horrible display I guess.
