He never really got fit enough to play consistently and to get the games in that could have seen him do a job for us. Unfortunately we cannot afford to give him 8-10 games to get his match fitness up to scratch before we got a return.

 

Good luck to him, I hope it works out for him. It wasnt a lack of effort in his case, which is the very least we could expect I know, but not always a given.

How about thew turnaround in form of Alan Hutton when WS took the reigns ? McGregor ? Danny Wilson's emergence ? Miller was largely crap prior to signing for us for a 2nd stint, how about his form turnaround ??

 

Sorry, but there are examples of where players form has turned for the better under WS as much as there is, sadly, those who have seen their form turn for the better under other managers post WS. Further, it is FAR TOO simplistic a view to consider that the sole turnaround is due to inadequacies of our management. Sometimes it simply takes a change of scenery to alter a player, and to be playing with different players too.

 

I dont for a minute think that WS was the reason that Ferguson's form turned around when he went to Birmingham. He needed to go as he was stale at Rangers - it isnt just the management that get the best out of players, you need the players to also make the effort.

It is the managements job to get the best out of players and move them on if they can't achieve that, playing them in their preferred/ natural position also helps.
