BIRMINGHAM CITY boss Alex McLeish is winning the race to sign Dundee United striker David Goodwillie.

His goalscoring exploits in the SPL ââ?¬â?? 13 this season ââ?¬â?? have caught the eye of several clubs, including Championship promotion chasers Swansea, as well as McLeishââ?¬â?¢s former club Rangers. But Birmingham lead the pack and are set to tie up a deal in the summer.

Apart from a loan spell at Raith Rovers, Goodwillie, 21, has spent his career at Tannadice and made his Scotland debut in their 3-0 friendly against the Faroe Islands last November.

Goalscoring exploits? 13 goals? Ha!

It's been all over the united forums for weeks that it's a done deal he'll sign for birmingham......so a fan in my work tells me.

A 5 year spell inside the big house might change that.
