Gribz 743 Posted October 12, 2006 Share Posted October 12, 2006 Its been enough that Gerrard "carrys" the Liverpool side. Maybe he also carrys the England side. Without his name in the line up England just didnt look dangerous at all. IMO Lampard is a good player but he shines that bit more at Chelsea coz he has Makelele, Essien, Robben etc around him (a bit like Ferguson when he had Albertz, Gio etc), but when Lampard is in a midfield that is only "good" like last night he struggles to make an impact. Gerrard is truly world class player. His work rate is up there with the best and he guarentees 15-20 goals a season from midfield along with the same amount of shots that hit the woodwork. He will also provide the same amount of assists. He has everything from pace, skill, power, hunger and energy and he can play anywhere across the midfield. I thought Terry would have got it anyway at the time, but IMO Gerrard should have been made captain as he is in the middle of the pitch and is a great driving influence on the team.
