Scottish Cup 4th round draw

Recommended Posts

Aye,kicked evrybody off the park, big bullies that's all they are:tongue:

Seriously though they were always the big guns to draw in the scottish cup and I only played against then twice, once at their ground in the quarter final in which we got beat 2-1,but denied a stone wall penalty, and once at our ground in the 4/5 round? and we lost that one 1-0,can't remember the dates as it seems so long ago:redface:. I played 10 seasons for Tranent Juniors, that quarter final tie at Talbots ground there was something like 9 buses of Tranent fans through that day, massive crowds really. I do remember after the game our team bus got stoned and we had to get a police escort out of town, considering they won and this was about 8 at night I wonder what it would have been like if we had won?

You must have went home through Cumnock, they would have stoned your bus - just be thankful the bus was still moving or they would have stolen the tyres too.....

Beechwood Park is a tough place for any team to go to and the crowd is right on top of you and pretty vocal.

My 1st recollection was going to Hampden for the centenary Junior Cup Final when we beat Pollok 3-2 after being 2-0 down in the 1st 15 mins. There must have been at least 10,000 Talbot fans there, the whole area was emptied.

I still enjoy the Junior game because the guys playing are doing so for the love of the game, certainly isnt the money. My cousin played for Talbot and used to get 25 quid a week or something like that, though he did get a couple grand of a signing on fee.

Tranent used to be a pretty decent team too Ian. What they like these days ?

Allan, it would be incredible if the Hearts vs Talbot game were to be televised. Very, very big difference in quality but Talbot are probably (not definitely, other clubs would claim this too) the best team in Junior football so it will be a nice indicator as to the difference between the SPL and the semi-professional ranks.

Aye Tranent used to be a good junior team, always big crowds even at league games but especialy for the scottish. I don't follow the juniors any more and with the new structure I'm not sure what level they are at now.

The game when we went to Talbot in quarters Roy Baines was our manager, the second time was at Tranent,10-11 years ago?,and none other than Mike Galloway was our manager.
