Rangers: Doing The Right Thing

Recommended Posts

If it wouldn't stop the SPL vote going ahead (which we obviously don't know for sure), then you've definitely got a good point because if the SFA hold our membership then they would have a say in whether we apply to a league outwith Scotland. If the SFA don't hold our membership (or application), then it's doubtful if they would have a say in whether we apply to play elsewhere such as south of the border.

Exactly. Like I said when Newco was first mentioned and we had talk of SFL3, why would we want to go through the hardship of working our way up from the bottom just to come back to this?

No matter how slim a chance, there will never be a better opportunity for us to leave Scottish football and we should be giving the SFA as little power as possible to stand in our way.

You're making great points here, but let's talk about what the realistic alternatives are. So what are they? Seriously now, none of this wacky "let's move to Germany" nonsense! :smokin:

Wasn't that let's move to Holland nonsense? Maybe we could apply to membership in the Northern Irish League though.

EDIT: That Leeds article ... Bates bemoans the selfish interest of other clubs for voting for that nasty 15-point penalty. Wow. Look what the warlords of Scotland are trying with us.

Just to come back to this specific point here and say that I understand what you're trying to get at. Why would we want to go to SFL3 only to eventually come back to the SPL to play in a league against clubs who've voted that they don't want us in the league? It's a very good question. My answer to that question would be that when we do come back we'll be in a position of strength again because our Scottish fanbase is big enough to ensure that we will be able to compete for the SPL title again and we will win it again! We'll eventually continue on from our 54th title to win our 55th. Ok, so we probably won't be winning number 55 in 2016, but we'll win it before 2020! :tu:

AAMS - some very wise comments and suggestions. It's time to move forward and no escaping the problems of the past. Whatever lower division the club may be placed into will provide an opportunity for the club to get back to where it rightfully belongs. Imagine the joy of Scotish Cup wins against those who have showed their true character in punishing Rangers rather than the overall benefit of football in Scotland. The biggest test will be the willingness and the strength of the supporters to continue to follow the club, do the walk and not just the talk. Best wishes to all from Australia.

The Holland stuff was RANGERSRAB's suggestion, but UCF has spoken about Germany as an option.

Aye, it's incredible dB. There's absolutely no precedent for what they're trying to do to us. The punishment should fit the crime and demotion to the Scottish 3rd division is certainly not a punishment which fits the crime in our case. No way.

In fact, it would be such an over-the-top punishment that the decision itself would bring Scottish football into "disrepute" for handing out excessive sanctions to it's most prolific member club in an unprecedented time of chaos and turmoil.

Is not that something that could be seized upon by a good legal team? Another reason for staying until we are pushed out:if we jump first then we undermine our case.
